- Healing Incantation ~ Mandy Moore

We continued walking through the woods, now going downhill. My high sensitive ears picked up rustling and jerked to the side. Everyone seemed to hear it as well because they were looking at it as well. The leaves formed a human-like figure, yelling in pain before exploding. It was a Dryad.

The Pevensies looked horrified. I shared a grim look with Trumpkin. "Telmarines are near by." I broke the silence. Just as the words left my mouth, loud commotion could be heard from where we were. "C'mon." Trumpkin said gruffly, leading the way.

I moved my way through to the front, despite Peter's protests, and crouched down behind fallen trees. Poor Dryads. I watched as everyone filed next to me, watching the construction going on. My eyes moved from the workers cutting down trees to the fires filling the air with smoke to the bridge, catapults, and other machinery being built.

A horse whinnied and we all ducked down low. I peeked up and bit back a gasp. Unfortunately, a sound of surprise did leave my mouth. Peter's head jerked in my direction. "What is it?" He whispered in my ear. I shivered and nodded towards the very familiar figure on the white horse next to Glozelle and Sopespian.

"That's Miraz, Caspian's uncle." I whispered, not bothering to keep the disdain out of my voice. "Sounds like you like him." Peter said sarcastically. I shook my head, refraining from vomiting. "Perhaps this wasn't the best way to come after all." I heard Susan whisper to Peter.

The two crouched off towards the forest, leading us to who knows where. The rest of us crawled after them, hoping to not be seen. I stood up with the help of a tree and looked down at my ankle. To be honest, I was worried.

Usually when I got hurt, the pain would wear off to a dull throbbing. I was used to that kind of pain. My ankle, however, felt like it was on fire. I reached into my bag and dug around for my lily tea. I found my waterskin and put it to my mouth immediately.

Empty. It was fucking empty. I wanted to scream a stream of curses or punch a hole through something. Instead, I let out a groan of frustration. Peter turned and looked at me with a concerned look. "You alright, Laure?"

I shook my head grouchily. "No. My freaking waterskin is freaking empty." He chuckled, earning a scowl from yours truly. Peter snaked his arm around my waist, helping me walk. "If you want, we can stop for a break."

I shook my head violently. "No. We have to keep moving until sundown." He sighed and nodded, squeezing my hip. Spikes of warmth flooded through my body. How on earth does he not know the way he makes me feel? I'm going to explode into a burst of flames if this keeps up.

I frowned, confused, as we stood above the River Rush once again. Peter turned to Lucy. "So where exactly do you think you saw Aslan?" I could tell that he was trying to make it up to her, but she glared at him.

"I wish you'd all stop trying to sound like grown-ups. I don't think I saw him, I did see him." She crossed her arms and walked towards the edge. "I am a grown-up." Trumpkin raised his eyebrows. Edmund grinned, trying to hold back a laugh.

I snickered quietly and looked over at Lucy. "It was right over-" The ground collapsed beneath her and Lucy let out a scream. "LUCY!" Susan shrieked. We all ran to the edge and looked down. Relief washed through me as I saw Lucy staring down at the gorge on a patch of soil.

"...Here." she whispered. Trumpkin furrowed his eyebrows and jumped down to where she was standing. "There's a trail." He called up, moving Lucy down the path. Edmund jumped next, helping Susan and then me.
