Title: You   by ThatOneWarriorCatFan

Story:

I looked up at the darkening sky, the stars beginning to twinkle. I was laying down, my back against the soft, green grass, and my hands were tangled in it. My jean jacket was getting stained green, I knew, but I didn't care. I brushed a strand of my brown hair out of my eyes as I remembered the times I spent with you, looking at the stars with the grass against our backs just like this.

I smiled again, and reached out a hand to touch the stars. It slowly started to lose balance in the air and it fell back to my side. I reached out a hand to touch you, and I turned to you, smiling, and the smile died as I kept looking at the piece of granite on the earth. I missed the times when I could run my hands through your hair, when I could kiss the soft, lightly glossed lips that I almost couldn't live without.

My eyes teared up as I kept staring at you, the stone slab placed against the earth with your birth and death dates inscribed upon it. I reached out a hand to run it over the stone, the cool granite marker making me shiver. I sat up and looked at you, or rather the stone slab that covered you, and tears started to freely fall against my face. I traced your name with my hand, the rainbow bracelet on my wrist glinting slightly in the starlight. I sighed, and leaned down, kissing your name gently, and then retreated to look up at the stars again. The tears continued to fall as I faced the sky, the black sky that was coated with shining stars almost as bright and brilliant as your face.

I wished so much that I could run my hand through your bobbed ginger hair, that I could stare into your crystal blue eyes again, that I could see your dimpled smile again, that I could hold your pale hand again. I closed my eyes and let out a deep breath, inclining my head slightly towards my chest and my long, brown hair fell over my face again, covering the tears that ran down my now red cheeks.

I stood up, and smiled as I saw the fireflies that were around me, slowly lighting up and fading. You loved the fireflies, and you could watch them forever without getting tired. They flickered all over, and then suddenly they were gone. Just like you. I looked back at the stone piece and sighed again, running my hand through my hair and sighing closing my eyes for a brief moment.

"I love you. I always will. Wherever you are, I hope you hear me." I said to you, imagining you looking down at me from the sky and smiling once more. I stepped away from your grave and my expression turned dour, how it normally was these days, as I walked back out of the cemetery to return to my family, my life, and my grief.
