For the movie I simply put on a cute dress, the same I wore on vacation, and subtle make-up. I mentally prepared myself to be the third wheel and i brought some money for popcorn along. When I came back from upstairs, since we were at my house eating pizza before going to the theatre, Meredith looks at me from the couch. She still has her phone in her hand. She was probably texting Adi.
'Hey, Jul! That dress is adorable!' she exclaims. 'Thanks! I love your outfit too, it's really cute', I say. We decide to take the bus to the movie theatre since it's pretty far and my mom doesn't want us to drive a car. My mom also didn't have the time to bring us there.
We stand there talking a bit for a few minutes when I see Adi arrive, with Tal. Immediately I regret not putting a lot of effort in my look. I twirl my hair with my fingers and pull on my dress so it'll sit better. They walk towards us, Adi basically running to Meredith. She greets him with a kiss and a 'hi babe'. Adi hugs her as a response. Knowing them, they would stay like this.
Tal and I just make eye contact and then he smirks at me before he walks to me to give me a hug. I hug him back. It's perfect; he's just a bit taller than me and he is nice and warm. I feel my stomach twirl again. 'Is that the same dress from vacation?' he whispers in my ear. His warm breath fans over my ear. My body shivers in a good way and I feel my cheeks heat up. I just nod. I know I'm not able to talk right now.
'Shall we go inside?' Tal asks while letting me go. 'Yes, let's go,' Meredith says excitedly. We head to the shop to buy some popcorn. Then we realize there probably is no pause so Meredith and I head to the bathroom, letting the guys watch our food, which probably isn't the best idea. I hope they won't eat too much of it.
'Why didn't you tell me Tal was coming as well?' I whisper, partly mad and partly excited that Tal is there. Meredith is looking in the mirror. She's fixing her hair, like nearly always when she's close to a mirror. 'We thought it would be a fun surprise', she says, still looking at her reflection. 'We?' 'Well, actually it was my idea, but Adi agreed and convinced him to come, so you wouldn't be lonely.' Okay, she was right about that. 'Shall we go?' she asks me and before hearing my answer she grabs my hand and drags me out of the bathroom and out of my comfort zone.
We walk in the room and it's completely dark. Well, not pitch-black but it's pretty dark in here. I'm probably going to trip. Meredith and Adi are the first two, behind them walks Tal and I am last. The room is nearly empty and Meredith and Adi decide to go sit in the middle row, so we can see everything very well. I walk up a few stairs, then I trip and bump into Tal, who apparently stopped. I knew it. I just knew I was going to trip.
I mumble a sorry while he turns around. I think he is smiling, but I am not sure because it is so dark in here. I stand up straight again and feel Tals hand against my arm. I feel my arm tingling and Tal grabs my hand. 'I'll lead you the way up, madame', he says with a fancy voice. I just chuckle and I blush, suddenly glad that it is so dark so that he can't see my face. I probably look like a tomato, knowing myself.
We sit down and I am seated next to Tal, who is still holding my hand while we sit down. He is sitting next to Adi and Adi next to Mer, obviously. Before the movie even starts I grab some popcorn. I ask Tal if the movie was going to be scary or not and he replied with 'a little'. 'What do you mean by a little?' 'You didn't see the trailer? Good luck then. You can squeeze my hand if you think it is scary, ok?' 'Yes please', I say back.
Halfway the movie there actually was a break so people could get more food or go to the toilet. Meredith and Adi left for the toilet so Tal and I are left on our own. 'This movie isn't as scary as you thought it was, is it?' Tal says. 'I'm glad it isn't! I am not a big fan of scary movies', I reply with a laugh. 'Me neither, I hate them.' There is a moment of silence. It isn't an uncomfortable silence, it feels natural. 'We should do this again', he suddenly says. 'What?' 'This, you know, grabbing a movie or something. I don't know.' He seems to get more insecure every word he says. It's really cute. 'Are you asking me out on a date?' I ask, smiling. 'Only if you want it to be.'
'Well, I'd love to. Have you got any specific date for it?', I say and it feels like I am on fire. 'Whenever you are available', he says. I subtly squeeze in his hand but I think he noticed. I hope he did.
