'I'm sorry but I promised to meet up with some friends', Tal says on the car ride back home. 'Fine by me.' There is a silence between us and I can feel the tension building up. 'Soo, um this may be early but where do I stand?' I ask. I just need to know or I won't get any sleep for the rest of the night. Or month. Probably even year. I see Tal's muscles tense up.
'Well, yes it is early but I like you and you like me, so... would you like to give it a shot?' he asks. He is talking slowly, like he is thinking about every single word he said in that sentence. He probably did just that, but well.
He looks at me and his eyes... I just can't describe them. They seemed to have turned lighter blue. They look happy. Tal looks happy. He looks back at the road again. I feel amazing right now. Like, I can't describe it. I am nervous and happy at the same time. I just... I can't believe it. Tal. Likes. Me. Back. This must be some kind of dream.
We arrive at my house and I step out of the car. Tal does so as well, although he is going to leave in his car again. I look at him and I put a step closer in his direction. I wrap my arms around him. He seems shocked at first but then he sort of relaxes and hugs me back. It sounds really creepy but I love his smell.
After a few seconds, I let him go and he walks back to his car. 'Have fun with your friends', I say. He steps in his car. 'I will', he says before he drives off. I look at him while he disappears. I stand there for a few minutes, while Tal is out of sight.
I want to scream out of happiness. Does that sound logical? No probably not. But I'm not logical, so what did you expect? I walk inside my house and go through everything that had happened just now. I can't wrap my mind around it. It's just... I don't know. I look around and it could be me but the flowers that were standing on the table all along are brighter than when I left for the picnic. I look in the mirror and I can see the happiness in my eyes. My cheeks are probably going to fall off if I laugh any more.
At that exact moment, Meredith decides to call me. Before I can tell her about anything that had happened, I squeal really high. She doesn't even question me, just says 'I'll be there in five mins' and hangs up the phone again.
Five minutes later the doorbell rings. I open it and get greeted with a big hug from Meredith. 'You look cute. Like, your cheeks are pink. Did you use too much blush? No, you hardly wear makeup.  My guess is that it has something to do with Tal.' She just rambles while taking off her coat and walking to the kitchen. She grabs a glass of lemonade for herself. I just sit down on the couch in the living room.
'Girl you are telling me everything', she says, sitting down crosslegged in front of me. My cheeks turn from the light pink shade they apparently had to a deep red. Meredith raises an eyebrow at me as if to say that I'm going to tell her everything or die. Which is most likely the case if I withhold any important details.
'Well basically Talconfessedhisfeelingsforme.' 'What? I thought I was a fast talker. I know I want to know everything as fast as possible but I do want to know what you said.' 'Tal like said I was cute and then he was like well you probably don't like me that way and I was like I do like you that way and in the car I asked him what are we and he said let's give it a shot.' I take a deep breath of air because apparently, I didn't quite do that when I was talking.
'I told you so! Tal does like you back! OMG, I've got to text Adi this! Are you dating now? Yes, you probably are. You can change your Facebook-status to married, girl!' Now it's my turn to be confused. 'What? Aren't you going a bit too fast?' I see Mer grab her phone and type in her password. Then it clicks what she just said.
'But wait- no you are not calling Adi. Not texting either. Or snapchat. Don't contact him! Meredith, don't do it!' I take her phone away from her. 'But he needs to know', she says with a pout. 'We're not official or anything! And Adi probably left you to go do something because otherwise, you wouldn't head to my house.' 'He didn't leave me! He just went to hang out with some friends. Where's Tal anyways?' 'The same. Went to hang out with friends as well.' 'I'm so exited for you two to date! But tell me everything about your date with him today!' Meredith exclaims and I summarize what the day had been like.
Halfway in the romantic comedy we decided we just had to watch, Tal calls me. Meredith raises her eyebrows when she sees it's Tal. I quickly grab my phone and walk upstairs to talk to him. That way Meredith won't completely be fangirling. Only half. But she will most likely question everything out of me.
'Why did he call you?' 'He said he was staying in his own house for a night because something had to be fixed or something and he wanted me to get a good nights sleep or something.' 'Well, that's exactly what Adi told me as well. I'm staying here for the night, if you like it or not', Meredith says. I smile. 'I still have to have some face masks lying around somewhere', I say and Meredith raises one eyebrow in response.
A few minutes later, we are back watching the movie, but now with our masks on and a bowl of chips. That didn't last long, though; about five minutes later we've already eaten the entire bowl. I grab a new bag and empty it into the bowl again. 'Today is cheat-day', Meredith announces. 'When is it not?'
When the credits of the movie start rolling, so do my eyes. 'This wasn't a good movie. Way too cliche. There has to be some form of action in the next one.' Now it's Meredith's turn to roll her eyes.
'Just because you like to see people being murdered and then some hot detective solving it, doesn't mean the entire world likes it.' 'Sherlock is way more than just a hot detective!' Meredith pretends to think. 'Nah, he's mostly a hot detective.' I want to argue with her on that but I decide to let it be. Better a hot detective then some negative adjective in front of the word detective.
'We've got to wash our masks off!' Meredith exclaims. 'We had to wash them off about half an hour ago', I reply. She places her finger on her lips and I smile at her. 'The movie wasn't done and I'm not going to pause a movie to take off some face masks that can wait.' I chuckle at her reasoning. Then we walk over to the kitchen so I can get this mask off. It's been burning for the last few minutes.
After Mer washed her mask off, I start laughing when I see her face. 'You look like a lobster!' I yell and I keep laughing loudly. While Meredith is running to the bathroom to see her face, I wash mine off. A few seconds later I hear a scream. Then Meredith comes back into the kitchen.
She looks at me for a good few seconds and I look back at her with a confused expression. What is she doing? Then her worried face makes place for a huge smile. 'Lobstersquadgoals!' she exclaims, leaving me confused. I decide I should probably check my face in the mirror. And then I realize she's right. We're both lobsters right now.
I walk back into the living room. Meredith is nearly rolling on the ground of laughter. It takes a few seconds, but then I join in. Hopefully, we'll be less much of lobsters tomorrow than we are looking like now.
