Tiffany and I step under the vat of blood.

"Go on three," she smiles.

"Three!" I exclaim with a mischievous grin.

The blood vat tips over, and we laugh about it as our photo is taken by the photographer. We proceed to the dance floor, as hellhounds patrol a certain area right under the Blood Moon. The area is completely empty.

"What's up with the center?" I inquire.

"I wanted tonight to be special," Tiffany smiles, "so I did everything I can to ensure we dance under the crimson light of the Blood Moon."

"That's so sweet," my pink glow returns, still dimer than normal, as I hug her, "thanks."

"Come on," she smiles, "it'll h starting soon."

We enter the center of the room, and I look up at the light from which the Blood Moon will bless two souls. Most likely ours. I find myself getting cold feet as I think about Marcie.

"I'm gonna go grab some punch," I explain.

"Don't drink the green stuff," Tiffany warns, "it'll melt your face off."

"Thanks for the warning," I chuckle.

I go to the punch bowl and get some of the red punch, which is just normal punch. I see a demon with some of their flesh still on, but a skeletal face prepare to drink the green punch. She has long brown hair and wears an orange dress, where have I seen that before?

"I wouldn't," I warn, "unless you're going full bones."

"What?" The skeletal girl asks.

"That'll melt your flesh," I reply.

"Oh," she replies, "thanks for the warning."

"No problem," I smile.

I sip my punch, the girl and I exchanging awkward glances before I take a deep breath and ask, "can I get your opinion on something?"

"What is it?" She inquires.

"So, I don't know why, but when I'm with my girlfriend, my hearts will glow pink sometimes, and I do like her but... I've met this other girl, and when I'm with her, my cheeks glow with a more intense light."

"What's her name?" The skeleton girl asks.

"Marcie," I reply, "you don't know her. She's a human."

"Actually," the skeleton replies, blushing, "maybe she's closer than you think..."

I put the pieces together.

"Marcie why are you here?" I sigh.

Marcie removes her mask, "I dunno to be honest. I just... felt like I needed to be here."

"Look," I sigh, "you need to go. Tiffany's gonna get angry, OK? Just leave."

I head off to go dance with Tiffany, only to find she's approaching me.

"Who's that?" She demands, her eyes glowing red as she points at Marcie.

"Just a friend," I smile, "I'll be in the center when you're ready."

I pray what I think is about to happen isn't about to happen, but I know it is. I slip into the crowd, and listen to the conversion between the two...

"You," Tiffany growls.

"What do you want?" Marcie asks, "you have Comet for the night, I'm done here. I tried."

She tried? Tried what? I don't understand.

"You shouldn't have tried in the first place," Tiffany growls, "you stay away from Comet, you hear me?"

Ugh, can't she see Marcie and I are just friends?

"You can't tell me what to do," Marcie snaps back.

"Watch me," Tiffany flashes her fangs, "you're a human, and I'm a demon. You really wanna mess with me?"

Marcie responds with a judo throw, sending Tiffany across the table. I push my way through the crowd, desperate to stop the fight.

"You dare," Tiffany's voice becomes deep and her eyes glow blood red, "defy me!?!"

Tiffany shoots fire at Marcie, burning her arms. She cried out in pain.

...

The green glowing won't stop.

"You!" I yell, pointing my wand at Tiffany, "what the Hell is wrong with you? You just gave my best friend second degree burns!"

"I did it for you," Tiffany explains, "she-"

"Isn't my friend after judo flipping you but neither are you after burning her!"

"What?" Tiffany asks, "are you dumping me?"

"Yes," I growl, "deal with it. Marcie, we're leaving."

Tiffany starts crying. I ignore her after what she did. She gets back up and points at Marcie.

"You did this!" She weeps, "I'll kill you!"

I blast her with a green bolt from my wand, sending her into the wall.

"Goodbye Tiffany," I finish.

Tiffany looks at me, crying, and runs away.

I ring the bell and await the carriage.

"Comet..." Marcie starts as she grabs my hand, but then, without any warning, a crimson light look over us.

Nope.

I let go.

Nope nope nope. Not her. Nope.

I ring the bell again as the Blood Moon seems to realize it's mistake and leaves.

Not after what she just did. Nope.

The carriage arrives and we return to Earth in silence.

"Comet," Marcie doesn't look me in the eye, "I can explain. Just hear me out."

"No," I growl, "screw you, OK? Just, wow. You, of all people, force me to dump my girlfriend, after you JUDO FLIP HER while I'm ON A DATE WITH HER, and you ruin the entire Blood Moon Ball. That's low, OK? That's just sick. I thought we were friends, but I guess not. It's over Marcie. I'm going to school Monday, but not for you. Because we aren't friends. I'm going, to make real friends."

"Comet," Marcie begs, "please, listen to me. I-"

"Don't care what you have to say. Good night Marcie..."

I head off to bed, crying myself to sleep as the green glow continues, I just lost my girlfriend...

And my best friend.
