59 days until I go mad.

I look around. I'm on Mewni. The air is thick with smoke, and everything is just ash. The only sign that this is Mewni, is the castle in the distance. I see Star, crying in front of a tombstone.

"Quit whining," I demand, "if it's Moon or River, who cares!?!"

I look at the tombstone, it's her name. She looks at me, crying, "because of you, I'm just like her! You ran away from your problems. You ran away from me!"

"I've always hated you," I retort.

"I helped you fake your death!"

"Why would I care?"

"Don't you? Didn't I try to help you? Need I remind you of the time you couldn't go out to hunt for a week? You'd have starved if I didn't sneak you food!"

"I DON'T CARE!"

"Fine," Star continues crying, "then I guess, after Moon, I'm next, right?"

I hesitate. I remember that week. Seven days, and the High Commission was present. I was to serve as entertainment for them, just because Moon wanted to humiliate me. I didn't get any chance to hunt. Each night, Star snuck me some of dinner. Only reason I'm alive. I never thanked her. I REFUSE to thank ANY Butterfly for anything. They're all in my way, but seeing Star cry, I want to apologize. She's been nicer to me than Moon and River at least, but...

No. Not worth it. She can die. All Butterflies must die. They will only get in my way. After all Star took me to where the fire was. I will never forgive her for that.

"Just go," I growl.

Crying, Star glows green and turns to ash. Moon approaches, glowing green.

"My heir!" She exclaims, "murderer!"

"You're next," I glare.

"I'll turn you to ash!" Moon roars. I prepare for combat but instead of darkness...

She has fire. Fire.

Fire!

FIRE!

I snap awake, sending off a narwhal blast in a panic, not even sure where I am. I look around, and realize it was just a nightmare.

"Comet?" I hear footsteps approaching, "are you OK?"

Tiffany enters the room, brushing her hair back. The room is one in Tiffany's palace, a room with brown tile and black walls. Guess I dozed off at some point.

"Did I fall asleep?" I ask, slyly hiding the narwhals under the red rug in the middle of the room.

"Yeah," Tiffany smiles, "we were watching TV. I was gonna wake you up so you could go back to Earth, but you were just to cute to disturb. What's with the narwhals?"

I realize I missed a smaller one next to my foot.

"It's nothing," I lie, "it's fine."

"Oh come on," Tiffany sighs, approaching "you can tell me."

"Fine," I shrug, "I had a nightmare."

"What happened in it?" Tiffany sits down on the couch, and I sit next to her.

"First," I explain, "I see ash. There's so much ash. Mewni has been burned to the ground. I smell smoke. I know there was fire..."

I stop, and look away.

"It's OK," Tiffany grabs my hand, causing my hearts to glow pink, "I understand if it's hard. You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to."

"Thanks," I reply.

"Just know, I'm here for you."

I hug her, "thanks. It means a lot."

"I love you Comet," Tiffany hugs me back. The glow grows brighter.

I reply, "I love you too."

"You should probably head back to Earth. The Diazs are probably worried."

"Oh, right... where is my bell?"

"Did Star take it?"

"I guess."

"I can give you a ride."

"That'd be great."

Tiffany calls a carriage as we exit the palace. We ride back to Earth. I remain quiet, planning my next move. Moon thinks I'm dead. How can I take advantage of that? It won't be long before Star is taken by the curse of well. If I take the throne before then, but if I don't Star must die...

Although it'd probably better like that.

We arrive on Earth, and I walk in, exclaiming, "I'm home!"

Marcie greets me with a smile, dashing down the stairs, "there you are! You had us worried!"

"I dozed off at Tiffany's," I explain, "don't worry about it."

"Hey," Marcie asks, "are you gonna be OK?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, the whole deal with the fire. You wanna talk about it or..."

"No! No more fire! No more fire!"

My hearts glow green, and Marcie apologizes, "sorry! Look, mom and dad got breakfast ready. Come on."

We head to the kitchen, and I sit next to Marcie as we eat breakfast. I smile, happy. The green glow is gone. These people have welcomed me like their own. Although I will have to leave to reclaim Mewni, for now...

I'm home, eating breakfast with my parents, and best friend...

59 days. That's all I have left. 59 days until I go mad. Why did I have to be born a princess? To have this timer ticking down on my sanity? I sit in my room, crying, afraid of what will happen when my 15th birthday comes.

"Star," River knocks on the door, "we need to talk."

"Not now," I sigh.

River comes in anyways.

"Why did you come back?" He asks.

"Because I had to," I reply, "I have nowhere else to go."

"Look, you can't stay here Star. You're going to start initation into the High Commission one week before your birthday. It starts ballard, and from there, Moon will teach you how to rule. After that week starts, you there's no escape. Promise me you'll come up with a plan."

"I promise."

"Thanks Star, and... I'm sorry about your brother."

"It's fine. He was mad."

"How ironic. Well, you can just take the rest of the day to yourself."

"Thanks dad."

"Anytime."

River leaves the room. Wait, Comet...

Hmmm...

Well, I do know one thing, if I'm gonna escape my fate...

I'm gonna need Comet's help.
