I wake up early in the morning, awoken by the endless ringing of the mirror I had installed in the wall of my room, after asking mom and dad of course. It won't stop ringing. Every hour, on the hour, for the last two days, she's called me. I answer for the third time since the incident, just to get her to shut up.

"Comet!" Tiffany exclaims, surprised I actually answered, she wipes tears from her eyes tries to play it cool, "how you been?"

"If you call me one more time," I growl, "I swear on the graves of all kings before me I'm gonna shatter this mirror."

"Comet," Tiffany begs, "please, listien, I know I messed up, but I still love you. Please, just reconsider, I'll apologize to Marcie, I'll help you take Mewni by force with my army. I'll give you my kingdom. Just..." Tiffany starts crying, "please don't leave me."

"I'll reconsider," I sigh.

"Really?" Tiffany asks, hope in her eyes as she wipes her tears.

"I'll reconsider," I growl, "why I haven't just blocked you. Mirror, block Tiffany."

"No!" Tiffany yells.

A message asking if I'm sure appears on the mirror.

"Block Tiffany," I repeat. The call ends. Tiffany can't call me anymore. Now if only I could block the other one...

"Hey Comet," Marcie knocks on my door and enters my room.

"Ugh," I sigh, "what do YOU want?"

"I just wanna be friends again," Marcie replies, "are you really going to stay mad at me like this forever? I mean, Tiffany was possessive as heck anyways. I say she was a mistake. Maybe you should look elsewhere for a girlfriend. Maybe on Earth?"

"Or maybe you should back out of my love life," I glare, "I'm only staying here until I can defeat Moon, you know that, right? I'm gonna study this spell book at school today, so, that's that."

"But Comet," Marcie looks away, "I..."

"You what?!?" I demand, "Only care about yourself? Attack my girlfriend without hesitation or reason to do so? Crash a demon ball just for sick kicks? What is there to justify your behavior!?!"

Marcie looks away, and goes silent. My cheeks glow green. Asking the question made me desire an answer with every fiber of my being.

"Well!?!" I demand.

She starts crying and offers no response.

"If there's a reason," I growl, "tell me now. If there's anything that even remotely justifes-"

"If I told you," Marcie recollects herself, "you'd hate me even more."

"I guess we were never friends," I glare, "if I'm not important enough to get the truth. I'm off to school. See you later."

I ring my bell and call a carriage. It approaches the window and I order the demon to head to school.

If I'm gonna be staying here, I'm gonna wanna make an entrance when I arrive. I'll be king soon, and I want to leave an impression. The old kings of Mewni, while not completely forgotten, get nothing compared to the queens. The queens each have entire books dedicated to them. The kings have one book, with a chapter each, a new one made each time a king dies with a chapter about them. I will not live in the shadow of my sister and my mother. Moon will die, and I will become king. No matter what...

The carriage touches down. I take a deep breath and prepare my wand. I focus, the green glow still bright on my cheeks and wand, and prepare a spectacular spell, just to show off.

I exit the carriage, and already everyone is looking at me with bewilderment, lost on what to say about the demon flown carriage. I bang the side, and the demon leaves. I cast the spell I prepared, a spectacle of fireworks, rainbows, unicorns, and butterflies.

After the spell ends I smile and explain, "well I think that speaks for itself. Any questions?"

"Yeah," two students walk up to me, one of them has short blonde hair with a blue stripe, the other wears a beanie and has short black hair. They both greet me with a smile, as if they already know me. "You're Comet," the blonde one asks, messing around on his skateboard, "right?"

"How'd you know?" I inquire.

"Let me introduce myself," the blonde replies, "my name's Johnson, and this is Jim. Marcie's a friend of ours. She mentioned you quite a few times, said some magical boy came from nowhere. I didn't know she meant magical literally though."

"Told you they weren't dating!" Jim smiles, "pay up!"

"Dating?" I chuckle, "no. I actually hate her guts."

"What happened?" Jim asks, "last I heard you were best buds."

"Oh boy," I smile, "let me tell you. So, I'm going to a dance with my girlfriend Tiffany, right?"

"Back up," Johnson interrupts, "who's Tiffany?"

"Maybe we should start at the beginning," I reply, "let me get you up to speed..."

After explaining everything, Jim and Johnson sit in silence for a bit before Jim replies, "that's heavy."

"Eh," I smile, the green glow fading, now that I have new friends, "it's fine. You two seem cool. Wanna hang out after school?"

"Sure," Johnson replies, "but I gotta ask, you kinda glossed over the boarding school years. Why?"

I remember the sounds, the screams, the bells that rang when I ran, the fire cackling when I was marked...

"Don't ask," I reply, "please."

"Are you crying?" Jim asks, "are you OK?"

I put my hand to my face and find it wet with tears.

"Sorry," I apologize, "it's just... I don't like to think about that place."

"It's alright," Johnson replies, "sorry I asked. Come on, let's get to class."

I wipe away my tears, trying to ignore the searing pain, like a phantom limb, in my left elbow, the reason I never wear short sleeves. That accursed mark. One that will never go away. I just have to defy it. I have to prove HIM, and Moon, wrong...

I approach Mr. Henious.

"I need your help," I explain, Mr. Henious facing away in his chair, hiding his white beard, his balding head, and his face full of malice.

"I have no business with the Butterfly family," he explians, "not since that rebel escaped."

"I have a way to find him," I explain, "but I need your help."

Mr. Henious turns around, with a growing grin on his face. "In that case," he expains, "Mr. Henious, at your service..."
