Julian
Wednesday

Awkward.. Just a little bit. We'd been sitting at this table eating in silence for the past 10 minutes. Rosanna sat on my left, Marci sat across from her and Rosanna's dad sat acroos from me.

I thought the interrogation would start as soon as we sat down. I decided to break the ice a little bit.

"This food is really good Dr. Jacobs."

He nodded. "Thank you Julian. Can you cook?"

"Yessir. I can do a little something in the kitchen." I fed Skai a little piece of macaroni and cheese off my plate.

I quickly learned that's her favorite food from tonight's meal. She's been killing my macaroni since we sat down. I wish she would something else because it is really good.

"How old is the baby?"

I looked up at this Marci character, I'm not too sure why her presence is required. I mean I thought this was a meet the parent ordeal. But I guess females are a lot different than niggas because I wouldn't exactly invite my niggas to meet Rosanna when she meets my mom.

"She's 11 months and her name is Skai."

I didn't really appreciate her referring to my baby girl as "the baby". As if she's some sort of object or some shit and not a person.

"Is her mother around?"

Out of my peripheral, I saw Rosanna shot her a look but Marci just rolled her eyes and looked back to me.

"Actually, she's not."

"May I ask why not?" Dr. Jacobs spoke up.

"Uh.. she gave birth to Skai and two days later she left a note saying she wasn't ready for a baby. I haven't heard from her since."

Skai began to reach for more food from my plate. I swear she's so greedy.

"Were you guys in a relationship or was it just a one night stand?"

"Marci!"

"What? Aren't we here to get to know the guy?"

"That is none of your business."

"It's okay Ro. To answer your question, yes we were in a relationship."

"So if she were to come back, would that complicate things?"

This bitch was starting to get on my last damn nerve.. what was the purpose of her presence again?

"I don't know what you're trying to imply but my feelings for Rosanna are very serious. Nobody can change that either. Excuse my language, but if the bitch was serious about me then she wouldn't have left regardless of the baby. However, the fact that she did leave and left her child behind speak volumes and I will never feel the same way about her again."

I could tell I had left her speechless which was good, she needed to shut the fuck up and eat instead of being all in my business.

Dr. Jacobs cleared his throat. "So Rosanna told me you work at a tattoo shop."

"Yessir."
