Julian

Wednesday

Raising my hand, I knocked on the door before waiting for it to open. After a minute I heard the locks clicking and then the door was pulled open.

"Wassup old man?" I spoke.

"Hey Julian."

Dr. Robert stepped aside letting me in.

"Whatchu doing up in here?" I asked him.

He shrugged. "Just relaxing, watching tv."

I looked down at the watch that adorned my wrist. "You wanna go get lunch or something?"

He stared at me for a minute then spoke. "Did Rosanna put you up to this?"

"Well I mean.."

He sighed as he turned to go into the living room. I followed behind him and took a seat on the couch across from him.

"She really didn't send me here but she did mention you were lonely and stuff. You are cooped up in this house all the time so I came through."

"I'm gonna tell you something but you can't tell Rosanna."

I looked at him skeptically, I was going to say something but Dr. Robert spoke up again.

"I'm going to tell her just not right now."

I still wore a skeptical facial expression while all types of scenarios ran through my head. I was praying he wasn't about to tell me he's gay.

I watched him as he rubbed his hands against his pants legs. "I've been seeing someone."

"Okay so why haven't you told Ro?"

"Welllll she's younger."

I looked at him questioningly. "How much younger?"

He bit his lip before answering. "She's 28."

Both of my eyebrows rose in shock. "Oh shit! Forreal, damn."

I knew better than to curse in front of my elders but this was some mind blowing shit.

I mean Dr. Jacobs didn't look like he went for younger women, especially a chick that's old enough to be his daughter.

"Well, how..." I had to pause in order to get my thoughts together. "How did you even.."

I knew what I wanted to ask but I couldn't seem to word the question right. Dr. Robert caught on to what I was trying to say and answered the question.

"Her name is Shanice. We met in Wing Stop, she was a dollar short on her meal so I just paid for the while thing. She thanked me and told me she'd repay me but I told her not to worry about it. She kept insisting then she gave me her number. I didn't wanna be rude so I took it. Shanice invited me out for lunch one day, I went and we hit it off."

I just sat there trying to wrap my head around this whole thing. I just never took Dr. Robert as one of thise dudes, a guy that'll date someone that young.
