Third Person
As calm as Josh seemed to be, he was quite the opposite. Josh left Aster's room and hesitantly asked a doctor to contact Daniel before he walked straight out of the hospital, completely ignoring the questions spewing from his friends. It was the first time he went home without being forced, and the first time he noticed his home didn't feel like home without Aster.
He couldn't be in the kitchen and try to envision Aster swatting him away from the stove after he burned some simple eggs. He couldn't sit on his couch and not feel the warmth of her snuggling close to his body as they barely payed attention to whatever was projecting itself from the tv screen. He couldn't shower without thinking of how nice it felt to be so close to Aster in such an intimate space, or hear her singing echo off the tile walls. And he definitely couldn't just lay down and sleep in that god damn bed that he's slept in for most of his life without her cold feet brushing against his legs or his face tucked into the crook of her neck, placing tiny kisses making her whine because she was ticklish.
He knew now that Aster was his home. Aster was his everything. And no matter how long it took, he would be there with her until she could remember the moments they shared, and realize that he is her home too.
