Aster

When the morning came everything seemed to be perfect. I could feel Josh's arms around me and I could hear his slow breathing, indicating he was still asleep. The birds outside seemed to be singing a happy song and I woke up feeling more refreshed than I have in a long time.
But something was off.
Something was so off and I couldn't shake the feeling from my chest as I tried to keep my eyes squeezed shut and go back to sleep to ignore it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get back to sleep and rubbed at my eyes. I squinted them open to be attacked with bright light contrasting the usual darkness I had become accustomed to.
I squinted through the light, easing my eyes to adjust to the rapid change. I ignored the splitting headache and squinted through my blurry surroundings. A hand, my hand, resting on the familiar freckled chest of my boyfriend. I let that hand slide up slowly with my line of sight to reach his face, and I nearly broke down right there.
I cupped the side of Josh's face and took in all his features. The way his lips were slightly parted when he slept. The way the sun reflected off his nose ring and straight into my eyes. His eyelashes, that protect his beautiful eyes, resting just above his cheeks. His obnoxiously bright, yellow hair that stuck out and curled in the cutest bedhead I've ever seen.
I kept ignoring the splitting pain that traveled through my head. I wanted to treasure this moment, lock it away in a safe forever in the back of my mind. And then the alarm clock went off.
Josh groaned tiredly and unmatched his arm from me to blindly hit at the desk in attempts to get the alarm to shut up. "Brunch was a bad idea, I can barely get up before noon." He mumbled in a low voice.
I hummed in agreement and left him to wake up for a little longer before speaking up. "We should probably raincheck on the brunch."
"We're not cancelling cause we're too lazy to get out of bed." He chuckled, still rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
"Trust me, we should raincheck." I repeated as I ran my fingers through his bright hair.
"Asterrr." He whined, peeking open one of his eyes and squinting through the light.
I felt my heart flutter at the slight sliver of brown I caught from his squinted eye and let out a content sigh. "Josh, we have to go to the doctor."
"What?" He asked, seeming more alert and worried now. "Why? Are you okay? Are you hurt? Is it-"
"Josh, I'm fine." I reassured. "It's just that this light is giving me a horrible headache and Dr. Hale said we should go check in with her when I started seeing again."
His eyes widened to the size of the moon as he shot up in bed. "You can see? Like you can see me right now?"
"Yes!" I laughed.
"Why didn't you wake me up! We could have gone sooner." He rushed as he practically fell out of bed and tried to find something to put on.
"I was enjoying the moment." I shrugged.
"How are you so calm right now?"
"Cause I'm not dying? I'm just seeing." I laughed.
"Well," He groaned, "Just get out of bed we're going to the hospital, we'll call Tyler and Jenna on the way."
"Okay, okay!" I giggled at his frantic actions. "Alright lets go."

Oh heck guys it's a coming
