Aster
"Alright breathe in," Dr. Hale instructed with the cool metal of the stethoscope pressed into my chest, "and out." She nodded and scribbled down some notes on a clipboard. "So do you have any further questions about your health?"
"No, not anything that comes straight to mind." I shrugged.
"Well then Aster, I'm giving the go ahead to have you discharged. I'm sure Mr. Dun can help you sign out?" She said in more of a question.
"Yeah of course," I assured her. "Oh, I do have a question now that I think about it."
"What is it?"
"What about my eyes? Am I permanently blind, am I going to see again?" I questioned nervously.
"Well, it seems that your pupils are responding to light accordingly and your eyes are functioning as if you could see, there's just a part of your brain that's still recovering from the crash trauma. My thoughts are if you don't recover eyesight in the next month or two then you would either consider brain surgery or adjusting to the blind lifestyle, but that's only worst case scenario." Dr. Hale explained.
I tried to soak in all the information as quick as I could and spoke again. "And if I do see again, what should I do?"
"When the occasion comes it's going to be a lot to process and you might have a slight light sensitivity so you might have some headaches and migraines. Once you have processed the situation I would have someone drive you here so we could perform an occipital check up and tell you the condition of your eyes and eyesight. From what I can tell now though, since your eyes are still slightly functioning, I don't think your eyesight would have changed much or at all and it won't be very hard to adjust to the changes. The downside is the migraines that come with it."
I nodded slowly, "Okay, that's all I have. Can you send Josh in?"
"Of course, have a nice day Ms. Montillo. We'll see you in a couple months for a follow up."
Josh barged in not long after Dr. Hale left and pulled me from the bed and spun me around. "You can finally come home!"
"God finally!" I sighed exasperatedly as he carefully put me back down on my feet. "Okay, clothes! Did you bring them?"
"If what you meant is I brought my clothes then yes." He chuckled. "Do you need any help?"
"Uh," I paused feelings whatever fabric was in my hands, "Just because I don't wanna look like an idiot and shove my head through an armhole I'm gonna say yes."
He laughed at my short struggle before helping me pull his shirt over my head. I easily pulled the sweatpants he brought up my legs and he helped me lace up my shoes.
"Alright," He said wrapping an arm around me to help support, "Let's get you out of here."

After about thirty minutes of boring paperwork and a short drive, we finally made it to the front door. "The moment you open this door you better be ready for a massive cuddle session."
"I have absolutely no objections to that." Josh answered and squeezed my hand before dropping it to unlock the door. After the door was unlocked Josh led me to the bedroom as best as he could. I only bumped into one wall... maybe two.
Finally, after small struggle, I flopped down being engulfed in the fluffy comforter. Just as I was getting comfortable Josh flopped down on top of me, knocking all air out of my lungs.
"Geez, I might as well have been hit by a car again." I teased as I tried to push him off of me.
"Ouch, my feelings," He whined.
"Ouch, my ribs!" I shot back and finally pushed him off of me only for him to pull me on top of him.
"There, comfy?" He asked.
"Very," I answered and nestled my face into his neck. "It's nice to be able to cuddle and not get yelled at."
"They were just worried I'd crush you or something like I was a minute ago."
"Maybe I should go back if they'll prevent that." I joked.
"Wow, I'm hurt." He replied sarcastically.
"I'm kidding, I'd rather be crushed by my man-child of a boyfriend than have to stay in a hospital that long again." I said placing a peck on his cheek.
"I'm gonna ignore the fact that you called me a man-child and go back to the cute moment we were having." I just hummed in response, already feeling myself growing sleepier from the warmth and comfort I was getting from Josh's arms around me. "Are you falling asleep?"
"Mhm."
"Do you wanna get under the covers?"
"I'm fine right here." I mumbled sleepily.
He hummed in response and dragged his fingers through my hair, only making me sleepier before speaking up again and catching me before I fell asleep. "Do you wanna get married?"
"What?"
"Do you wanna get married?" He repeated simply.
"Are you asking me to marry you right now?" I asked feeling my heart speed up.
"No, just thinking about the future." He shrugged.
"You nearly gave me a heart attack." I complained snuggling back into his grasp.
He chuckled lowly, "Sorry, I'll let you sleep now."
"Yeah."
"Yeah what?"
"Yeah, I'd love to marry you."
