Screaming and sobbing and thrashing around, in all a giant wave of panic washed through me as I was pulled from my sleep.
"Aster wake up! It's just a dream baby!" I pulled her into my arms and held her tight to stop her from possibly injuring herself. "Aster wake up, everything is okay. You're safe now, it was just a dream."
Her eyes popped open but she continued to scream and panic. "I can't see! Who has me! Let me go!"
"Aster it's me! Calm down take a breath." I hushed and laced my fingers with hers.
Eventually her crying stopped and her quick breaths became longer. I wiped away the remaining tears that fell down her cheeks. "Do you wanna talk about it?"
"I never thought I'd say I am glad that I got hit by a car." She chuckled lowly.
"What?"
"I had a dream that you were the one that got hit by the car and you weren't waking up and it was all my fault and everyone knew it-"
"Hey, breathe. You're working yourself up again." I cut her off. "The accident wasn't your fault and it wasn't mine either. There were many possibilities to how it could have played out and this is what we got, but at least we're still alive and together. We can't change the past, but you're safe now. Nothing is going to happen to you again."
She nodded hugging onto one of my arms that was wrapped around her and leaned her head back onto my chest. She sat there like that for a moment with her eyes squeezed closed as she tried to regulate her breathing. "What would I do without you?" She spoke just about a whisper.
"Probably not get hit by a car."
"I hate you."
"No you don't." I teased and placed a sloppy kiss on her cheek.
"Ew," she giggled and wiped at her cheek. "What time is it."
"Like five in the morning."
"Go back to bed it's too early." She demanded trying to shoo me away.
"I'm not leaving you alone to wallow in your thoughts."
"Who said I was gonna wallow in my thoughts?" She defended.
"What else would you do at five in the morning?" I chuckled.
"You know, if I wasn't blind I could be doing a lot."
"Yeah, but right now you are and you're not gonna wallow in your thoughts. However, you do have the option of cuddling with your boyfriend until you fall back asleep."
"Hm, a tempting offer, does it include sleepy kisses?"
"It includes anything you want."
"Even dealing with my cold feet?"
"I do that already." I laughed.
"Then I'll have to take you up on your offer Mr. Dun." She said pushing me slightly back down on the bed.
"Wow, I thought you'd never crack." I joked as she curled up with me.
"I could never resist you."
