Josh
"What happened? What's wrong?" Tyler and Jenna both asked breathlessly after rushing to come see us.
"I don't know! We were just sitting there and she started to look really pale and then she stopped answering me and started shaking really bad and-" I gasped, refilling my lungs with air. "I think she had a seizure."
"Oh my god, is she going to be okay?" Jenna asked tearing up already.
"I don't know," I answered honestly. Then, again, we waited for what felt like an eternity just to hear something about Aster's condition.
Nurses finally filed out of Aster's room and Dr. Hale followed soon after. We looked up at her expectantly as she shut the door behind her softly.
"Aster just experienced a seizure," Dr. Hale said directly.
"Is she okay?"
"She's just fine," She answered with a smile. "We believe the seizure was just a response to emotional stress and anxiety paired with it processing too much information at once. You could think of it as kind of like restarting your phone when it starts to slow down. Aster is fine, just tired, but she refuses to release anymore information through me. She asked to see Mr. Dun as soon as possible."
"We'll wait out in the waiting room." Tyler reassured as he pulled Jenna away with him.
Dr. Hale gave me a pat on the back and walked away to go treat other patients.
I pushed the door open to find Aster sitting on her bed with her legs hanging off of the side. "Josh?"
"Yeah, it's me."
A smile stretched across her face as she blindly and weakly ran towards me. I caught her before her legs collapsed beneath her. "Woah be careful, you can't walk just yet." I chuckled and helped her to her feet.
"I'm so sorry I forgot you, I forgot everything." She apologized with tears brimming in her eyes. "But I remember it all now," she sobbed happily and buried her face into my neck.
"Wait what?"
"I remember everything Josh." She smiled through her tears. "I remember meeting you, I remember the flowers, I remember seeing colors with you, I remember sleeping together in the same bed, I remember moving into your house, I remember painting my bedroom walls, I remember it all." She took a deep breath and wiped away her tears as I sat her down on the bed and kneeled in front of her.
"And I remember you." She reached out blindly but found her way to the sides of my face. "And god, did I miss you." She laughed and started to pepper my face in tiny kisses.
I laughed and tried to hold back the tears brimming in my eyes, "You remember everything?"
"Yes oh my gosh how many times will I need to repeat it!" She whined sarcastically before placing a sloppy kiss to my cheek. "I love you! I love you! I love you!" She spoke between pecks.
I laughed and pulled her into a kiss which she didn't hesitate to reply. "I missed you so much."
"I missed you," She sighed. "I'm sick of this dumb hospital, I just wanna go home and be alone with you."
"Once your legs stop acting like jello we'll leave right away."
"You make it sound easy." She frowned. "Hey at least I can walk like four steps and collapse. They'd probably let me go on crutches if I wasn't blind."
"That's not something you could have helped."
She shrugged, "I don't know if I'll see again Josh. It's been a month."
"Your eyes are still responding to light, maybe your brain just needs more time to process the function. I mean you just got hit with a bunch of memories and had a fucking seizure, which was terrifying, so please don't stress yourself."
"Okay," she nodded, "But I'm gonna try to be able to walk by next week."
"That seems reasonable." I approved.
She smiled and hugged me tight, "Josh, I love you."
"I love you too."
"No, Josh, I love you so much. You'd stayed even though I forgot everything and you helped me when I thought I was still with Daniel and you didn't push me to talk about the past and I just appreciate everything you do for me." She mumbled and nestled into my neck.
"Aster, I wouldn't leave even if you hated me." I interrupted. "I'd follow you around till you couldn't hate me."
"As if I could ever hate you." She scoffed sarcastically and kissed my neck.
There was a knock at the door that interrupted our small moment. "Sorry to interrupt," a voice spoke from the other side of the door, "but just a reminder that physical therapy is in ten minutes."
"Thank you, I'll be out soon." Aster called back. She sighed as the steps grew farther from the door, "I don't wanna move."
"What happened to walking in two weeks?" I joked.
"You're right, help me into the damned chair."
