Aster
"Aster, babe, your phone." Josh grumbled as the annoying ringtone blared through the room.
I groaned as I stretched out to reach my phone, squinting through the blinding light of the morning. I blindly grabbed at the nightstand until I got a hold of my phone and hastily answered it with a very groggy, "hello?"
"Oh, Miss Montillo! Did I wake you? I can call at a later time." Dr. Hale's voice sounded through the receiver as I perked up a bit to shuffle out of bed with complaints from Josh that only stopped after I told him I'd be back soon.
"Oh no, it's fine. Do you have any news?" I asked after clearing my throats and making my way to the kitchen for a glass of water.
"Oh yes, all good news. It seems as though everything is just peachy keen, but I do have some suspicions about something." Dr. Hale spoke enthusiastically.
I took a sip of water to calm my nerves of her suspicions. "Is there something wrong?"
"No, of course not. Just from your blood labs we were able to determine that there was a significant increase in your estrogen levels and I'd like you to come in in about a week for another test." She paused, trying to figure out how to piece her words together. "I think there's a chance that you may be pregnant"
I choked on my water, receiving worried comments from Dr. Hale. "I'm sorry, I'm fine. Yeah, I'll come in for a test. Um, what day and what time?"
"If it's not a problem, I could fit you into the OBGYN's schedule on Thursday at 10 am. Is that okay?" She questioned.
"Yeah that's just fine." I answered quickly. "Thank you."
"Of course. I'll see you Thursday."
"Yep, Thursday. Goodbye." I said before she ended the call.
I sighed and chugged the rest of the water in the glass with some advil before setting it down and heading back to the bedroom.
Josh squinted through the light to greet me with a warm smile that made my heart melt every time. "Everything okay?" He asked in a hoarse voice that sent chills down my spine.
I flopped down beside him and snuggled as close to him as possible, just wanting to be with him. "Yeah."
"Who was that?" He questioned.
"Dr. Hale. Everything is going good and normal." I explained, leaving out a few details.
He hummed and rubbed up and down my back, keeping me in his warm embrace. "Are you doing okay?"
"Yeah baby," I answered smiling against his skin. "I'm perfect."
"What's got you all giddy this early in the morning?" He chuckled and placed a kiss on the top of my head.
"I'm just glad everything is okay and that everything is going to be okay." I answered leaving out the excitement that was quite literally bubbling up in my stomach.
He hummed sleepily as his strokes on my back got lazier. "Can we go back to sleep now?" He barely squeezed out.
I squinted at the clock, reading that it was only 8:30 in the morning and decided another lazy day could never hurt. "Yeah," I answered snuggling into the embrace and placing a kiss on his bare chest. "I love you."
"I love you too-" He trailed off sleepily before quickly falling back into a deep sleep.
I watched his relaxed face taking in every freckle or crease by his eyes for a while before I slowly fell into a deep sleep as well.
