Josh

Aster slept maybe two hours before a nurse came in to check her vitals, give her medicine, and make her eat things like soup and jello. As she blindly scooped jello into her mouth, since she refuses any help, she decided to speak.
"Josh, tell me more about us?" She phrased into a question.
"Alright," I scooted closer to the bed, "Where did we leave off."
"I just gave you my number." She reminded.
"Oh yeah, you're right." She dropped jello from her spoon back to the bowl and put an empty spoon in her mouth. I laughed and she frowned and urged me to tell the story as she attempted to eat the escapist jello. "I decided to get a tattoo the day after I met you, so I set up and appointment with a parlor and then I texted you asking if you wanted pizza."
She laughed, "Pizza is the way to my heart."
"So after texting you, you invited me to your house and while I was waiting for the pizza I decided to buy you some flowers to cheer you up. I totally made a fool of myself in the flower shop though."
"How so?"
"I went in there asking which of the flowers were yellow and the old man laughed at me cause I was completely oblivious to the fact that my hair is obnoxiously yellow." I laughed.
She giggled, "You dyed your hair without knowing the color?"
"I trusted Tyler with his color suggestions." I shrugged even though she couldn't see.
"He chose a great color, I'm sure it looks great on you."
"You're saying that cause it's your favorite color." I contradicted.
"Okay, I might be a little biased."
I laughed and continued the story. "Anyways, I came over with pizza and flowers and we watched movies in this sick pillow fort you built and then we passed out."
"Sounds nice," she sighed, "better than this dumb hospital room."
"I know, but we gotta get through your physical therapy first and then we can go home."
"Wait, do I live with you already?" She asked as she sipped soup from a cup.
"Yeah, we decided to move into my house after you uh, lost your job." I explained.
"Why'd I lose my job?"
"Something about your boss being worried you couldn't take good pictures anymore without color."
She sighed and shrugged knowingly, "Claire always was a bitch." I laughed as she cracked a smile. "When in the story do we start seeing color?" She asked as she set the empty cup of soup down on the tray.
"The next day."
"Ooo, continue the story."
"Okay well the next day when I woke up you were sitting there staring at the flowers I got you. I asked you if you were okay and you were adamant that you saw yellow in the flowers so I took a step closer and like you said, the flowers started to turn yellow."
"Yellow isn't normal for a first color," She smiled, "but I'm glad it was ours."
I agreed with her before explaining some more. "We were confused after about ten minutes because all we could see was yellow and nothing else-"
"Just yellow?"
"Yeah, I told you it wasn't normal."
"You keep saying that like it's gonna bother me." She sighed.
"I don't think it'll bother you, I just think it might be a lot to take in after, you know, being hit by a truck."
She laughed, "Way to be blunt, but honestly I'm okay."
"Yeah," I paused, "I know you're strong."
She was silent for a moment but then spoke up, "What happened after that then?"
"We were confused, didn't know if we were soulmates or not, then we didn't talk to each other for a week cause we needed to think." I explained.
"I was probably dying," She laughed.
"I don't know about you, but I definitely was. So I showed up to your house with bags full of sweets in attempt to get us to talk about it. After being there for to even five minutes we started to see brown, I saw it in you hair and you saw it in my eyes."
She smiled solemnly, "Keep talking."
"I was completely calm about the situation while you on the other hand were freaking out."
"Why would you be calm in that situation, so much would be changing in a way that isn't normal, of course I was freaking out!" She laughed.
"Well, as I explained to you then, I was going through it with my future soulmate, and that made it easier. After I said that, your cheeks turned pink." I defended.
"Two colors in a span of minutes." She sighed, "It's weird, but I like it."
"Yeah, I like it too."
