APOV

I sat in my car prepareing for what's to come. I tried to clear my head, but instead just thought of every little thing that could go wrong. I ran my fingers through my hair. All I could do was hope and pray everything would go fine. I got out of my car and was walking towards the front when I got a text from Scott.

S: hey we're at the back door. Ready when you are.

A: I'm about to walk through the front. Let's do this.

The plan was that I was going to walk in and make sure Kirstie was still alive and ask Matt what he wanted. Then we were going to catch him off guard and the guys would come in with the police. Not the best plan, I know but it's all we have.

I was now in front of the door, and I placed my hand on the handle. When I touched the handle it seemed to send a shock through my body, making my stomach churn with fear. I took a deep breath, and turned it.

I walk in and it's dark, and there's cobwebs everywhere. There was a lot of boxes too. I proceed ahead to see Kirstie in a chair, facing away from me. She's not tied down or anything which makes me think he has some sort of weapon, and she's too scared to run. Matt was standing in front of her then he glanced up and saw me.

"Avi Kaplan. How are you today sir?"

Kirstie immediately whirled around to look at me. I wanted to cry. She had cuts and bruises all over her. Her cheek was swollen and her eyes were puffy from crying. I was overwhelmed with pain, hatred, regret, fear, everything you could possibly think of.

"Hello? Are you going to answer me?"

I snapped back into reality, and just looked at him not saying a word. There was a long silence before I spoke.

"I'm here. What do you want?"

"Oh. Wanting to get right into it aren't we? Well, you see what I want, is you Kaplan. I'll let Kirstie go, but you stay. But don't think you'll get out alive."

My heart sank. I looked at the ground, then looked at Kirstie. Tears were streaming down her face while she shook her head no. I looked back at Matt.

"Okay."

"Good! Way to b-" he started, but I cut him off.

"But! Let me talk to Kirstie."

He sighed. "Fair enough. Ten minutes. Times ticking." He snarled.

I ran to her side.

"No, Avi you c-"

"Kirstie, listen to me. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything I've ever done. I love you more than anything, and I always will. No matter what happens I'll always be with you. Okay? I love you." I cupped her face and kissed her, for what would probably be the last time. When we pulled away she was sobbing hysterically.

"Avi, you can't do this! You can't leave me! You can't!" She sobbed into my chest.

The guys should have the police here by now. I tightened my grip on her. I hope this works..

Kevin called the police earlier and told them what was going on. They had just pulled up when I got the text from Avi.

A: Go.

"Okay guys, I just got the text." I said holding up my phone.

"Please. Please don't let anything happen." I pleaded the officers.

"We'll do the best we can Mr. Hoying."

We all took a deep breath and they stormed in.

"HANDS UP!"
