A Warrior's Quest (Book 2)

Chapter 8

I'm dreaming. I see the day my brother died. When I woke up, how my day at the shop went, then there's the invasion. I saw the big boulder creature as he crushed Tadashi into the wall. I try to scream but nothing comes out.

I jolt awake, my nightmare still fresh on my mind. I steady my frantic breathing and rub my eyes, when I look around I notice I'm in a different place. That's when I remembered the tornado and out mission; everything can flooding back to me. Tiny groaned slightly and sat up beside me. Then we both stood up and walked out into the open.

There's palm trees everywhere with big leaves and bright yellow fruit growing on them. Many different kinds of flowers grew everywhere, and in the center of everything a large pool of light green tinted water. I looked around with wonder "Whoah...where are we Tiny?"

"You're in the Jade Oasis." Tiny and I turned around and saw a light brown fox just a little bit taller than me with beautiful green eyes and a long green cape that flowed around his shoulders to his feet. "Welcome strangers." He steps closer and I saw a gold leaf around his neck on a chain; embedded in the middle was a piece of Jade. "Come, let's go to my cave to chat. It will be a good opportunity for both of you to rest as well." He begins walking off and we hesitate slightly then follow behind him through the oasis.

As we're walking I can't help but feel like I know who the mystery fox is. I studied his face, but after a while of face searching I gave up. The mystery fox noticed my face searching "Is something bothering you?" I quickly looked away "What? No, oh no, nothing's bothering me at all." I stared at the ground for comfort; I could feel myself blushing. "Well we'll be at my cave anytime now if that's why you're anxious." He replied. Silently I cursed to myself. I was so stupid to stare at his face without taking my eyes off of him for so long; now he probably thinks I'm paranoid or something. "Yeah...I'm just tired is all." I replied while I shuffled along. The rest of the walk I just stared at the ground, too embarrassed to look at his face anymore. I'm such an idiot when it comes to interactions with strangers, especially beautiful ones!
