A Warrior's Quest (Book 2)

Chapter 17

We reached Palancar just as the sun slowly climbed into the sky. From the air Palancar looked like a bare, mountainous place, but as we got closer I noticed that only the main island was bare. The other smaller islands around the main island looked green and full of life. On the main island there was a large range of mountains and plateaus.

I figured that had to be where was Razor was, so I began a banking turn to land on the top of the plateaus. Suddenly an extremely strong wind ripped across the sky. The sudden blast of wind knocked me off balance in the air and I fell from my stable position in the sky. I struggled to remain airborne, but I saw that a couple of my primary flight feathers on the tips of my wings had been wrenched from their spots by the wind. The dark water below looked like it was rising up to meet me. It was coming up fast. I closed my eyes and hoped that I still remembered how to swim, but the impact from the water never came.

I opened my eyes and discovered that Briggan had saved me. He swooped down and landed on the rocky shore, he put me down and I turned to face him.  "Are you alright?" Briggan asked with lots of concern and worry in his voice. "Yeah, I'm fine, thanks to you." I replied. Then Briggan did something that took me off guard, he gave me a bear hug. Like the "I'm never going to let you out of my sight I was so worried" kind of hugs. "I thought I was going to lose you forever!" "Uhh...are you ok Briggan?" I asked awkwardly. "Sorry!" Briggan mumbled and quickly pushed me away. I noticed that he was blushing, then I felt my cheeks getting hot and noticed that I was blushing too.

The others landed and there was a bunch of chatter about my fall, and how Briggan saved me, then we talked about today's plans. Honestly I didn't hear much because all I could think about was Briggan's hug and how much concern was in his voice when he saved me. Maybe he really does care, maybe even more than I've ever really thought that he did.

I was deep in my thoughts when Star touched my shoulder "You know he really likes you." I batted Star's hand off of my shoulder "Quit reading my mind!" "I didn't have to read your mind to know that, nor did I have to to know that you like him back." Then Star walked off leaving me with that. I thought about what Star said. Was it true? Was I in love with Briggan?

Hello all you party peoples!!

Ah love is in the air. *makes dramatic hand gesture* I love putting crushes in my stories even if my favorite kinds of stories are action and adventure. I always think it's best to include a little romance.
