A Warrior's Quest (Book 2)

Chapter 24

"Well, well, well, look at who I found resting in the shade." I turned around and saw Dr Rabies standing on the overhang above us. "You creep, why can't you leave us alone?" I said sharply. "Nice to see you haven't lost your attitude." DR Rabies replied casually. "Cut the small talk. Why did you come looking for us?" I snapped. "I came to make a deal with you Essix." Dr Rabies said smoothly. "I'd never make a deal with you!" I growled. "Very well, if that's the way it must be." He replied while he shook his head as if ashamed "Attack my army!!"

The ground shook slightly, and then about 50 or more Desert Scorpions and Scavengers swarmed over the rocks. "Guys prepare yourselves, its about to get rough." I said. "Let's do this!!" Star shouted. Tiny scrambled onto my shoulder and then we rushed into battle with our weapons drawn.

My first opponent was a large, heavily muscled Scavenger. He came at me with his whole body in a flying tackle, if it was to connect I could say goodbye to my bones being intact. I quickly jumped to the side and dodged it and the Scavenger's tackle connected with a rock instead. The force from its tackle smashed the rock to pieces. He recovered and charged me again, but this time he stopped right before he got to me and launched a flurry of punches aimed at me. I dodged all but a hard right hook to my head. Star's exploded across my vision and I fought to stay conscious. I had to continue dodging the Scavenger's attacks. Finally my vision cleared, and I attacked. I feinted and it fell for it and lunged in my direction, but the Scavenger didn't know it was a feint and let its guard down for a second. That one second was all I needed. I darted to it's left and thirsted my sword into his side, with a hideous scream the Scavenger collapsed and disintegrated into ashes.

I quickly looked around: Iris was beside the oasis fighting with blades of water and was slicing at a small group of scorpions, Erde was ripping big chunks of rocks out of the ground and was hurling them at any enemy near him, Razor was taking care of the flying scorpions in a fierce air battle, and Star, Azula, and Blaze were ganging up on a large group of enemies (Star had her dagger, Azula had her sword/scope blaster, and Blaze had her claws and fireballs). Everyone was accounted for, except Briggan.

I think I spelled that right...anyway for those of you who don't know what that's from it's how you say hello in Pokémon Sun and Moon, it's also the region in which those games take place.

Sorry to leave you guys on another cliffhanger...but it's time in the story for dramatic tension. After all, I have to keep all you guys entertained and wanting more, even if you want to tear my eyes out right now for leaving it on a cliffhanger.

Oh well...😅
