The light shining from his phone held him in a trance. It was almost serene compared to the thoughts running around inside his head. Jungkook couldn't help but lose himself in the games on his phone and his social media feed. It was something to focus on, something to distract himself with. With his nerves running wild he desperately needed it.

Taehyung could show up at any moment. He would pick him up at his house and then they'd go to a lunchroom together to eat. Jungkook wasn't sure whether Taehyung saw this as a date or just a meetup to get to know each other a little bit better. Regardlessly he wanted to leave a good impression. He was positive that he had already failed that when Taehyung had walked in on him sleeping at the job, but surprisingly the elder still wanted to get to know him better. Jungkook couldn't deny that he'd love to get to know him as well.

The sound of the doorbell rang through the empty house, shaking Jungkook out of his trance. Immediately his heart rate picked up, his breathing becoming twice as rough. He wasn't sure whether it was because the doorbell scared him or because of the implications behind it. Either way, he had no time to spare.

"Coming!" Jungkook yelled, his voice coming out way more nervous than he anticipated.

He sprinted through the apartment. Before opening the door he took a deep breath in, taking one last look at his reflection in the window. He would never be satisfied with how he looked but he hoped Taehyung would think otherwise. Maybe Jimin was right, he had seen him at his low, appearance was now nothing more than just a formality.

With a shaking hand, Jungkook pushed down the door handle, opening the barrier between him and the elder. On the other side of the door stood a smiling Taehyung, his hands pushed into the pockets of his pants. He was wearing an oversized, grey sweater, the sleeves almost reaching his knuckles. His denim pants were slim, framing his muscles perfectly without being too tight. Over it all, he wore a denim jacket to protect himself from the cold outside. His shoes matched the colour, framing his body flawlessly. Jungkook almost gaped at how gorgeous the elder looked.

"Hey," Taehyung greeted the younger. Jungkook repeated his words, slightly more nervous.

"Come in, I'll just grab my coat really quick," Jungkook said, opening the door completely and stepping out of the way. Taehyung smiled and walked in, his gaze scanning the apartment.

Luckily he and Namjoon weren't the messiest of people. He wasn't exactly a germophobe but his surroundings being a mess did irritate him enough to clean up every now and then. He liked his home clean and organized. The only things he would occasionally leave laying around were his shoes and old notes and sometimes dishes when he had little time in the morning to clean up after himself.

Jungkook walked to their small coat hanger, consisting of a grand total of two pegs, and took his coat. He immediately put it on, zipping it up to his neck to avoid the cold outside. After all, winter had been closing in on them, the temperatures dropping drastically.

"Religious?" Taehyung suddenly asked. Jungkook looked over and followed his gaze to the crucifix on the wall. He couldn't quite pinpoint the grimace on Taehyung's face. His expression was one of sadness, and another emotion, maybe disgust.

Namjoon wanted the crucifix to be there, saying that the living room was the heart of any house and therefore there should be a remembrance to God. He had another one in his room just above his bed so God could watch over him while he slept. Jungkook didn't believe any of it, but who was he to keep his friend from doing something so important to him? After all, it was only a piece of wood to the younger. He didn't particularly mind the crucifixes around the house, even though he had bad blood with religion.
