"Talk," Jungkook simply said. He eyed his mother expectantly. She was fidgeting with her fingers, her strong resolve slowly cracking ever so slightly. She just remained quiet, staring at him with a just as expectant look.

"You first," she demanded in a soft voice. "What happened? How did Jimin become your guardian?"

Jungkook let out a breath he didn't realise he was holding. The hopes he had too were high and he knew it. This was the only time he could get answers. His mother had always been selective at talking about his abilities, giving him answers between once every couple of years and never. The last time when he had talked about his abilities he was just a kid who could hardly understand the language, let alone the world surrounding them. Maybe now she would be more compassionate as to not let him get destroyed by his own thoughts and wonders. That's what prompted him to speak up first, in hopes that his mother would follow.

"I first saw him after a church service I went to with Namjoon," Jungkook started, his voice uncertain without any sense of naturality. "We walked out and he was just there. He was gone before I could even really take a good look."

His mother just nodded, looking at him in an almost observing way. It was calming, knowing that she was actually listening to him this time, although talking about angels and demons still felt unusual to him. He cleared his throat and gathered more courage to talk again.

Still, the words got stuck in his throat. The memories of the first time the demon came after him replayed behind his eyelids. He even now couldn't forget the pure fear in that man's eyes and the pure darkness in the demon's. His mother seemed to notice the drop in her son's expression, eyeing him carefully as he spoke his next words.

"After that, there was a demon on the subway I took to lecture," Jungkook said. His mother's eyes widened. She opened her mouth to say something, but her son quickly cut her off. "Jimin was there. He got me out of there and saved me. The angels have protected me ever since."

His mother just looked at him in pure shock. It took her a second before she closed her eyes and took a deep breath in, gathering her thoughts.

"Why are they protecting you?" his mother asked, stumbling over her own words a couple of times. "What did they say?"

"They said that I was valuable to them, that they didn't want my abilities to fall into the wrong hands," Jungkook explained. "And that the demons would use me against my will, that if I joined the angels then I wouldn't..."

His voice faded out as did his thoughts. He was sure his mother could fill in the rest. She just looked at him in understanding, letting out a deep sigh while running her hand through the stray hairs that had fallen across her face.

"Just that? They didn't say anything else?" his mother asked, keeping her eyes closed in thought for a second. Jungkook simply shook head.

"Nothing," he muttered, although his curiosity gradually grew within him. The time had come for him to speak up again. "Why are you so surprised?" he asked, almost afraid of the answer this time around. There was a high possibility that his mother wouldn't give him any to begin with, but the fact that there was a chance was enough to make his heart beat rise.

"Listen, Jungkook," she started, opening and closing her mouth a couple of times when trying to form her thoughts. "I know this is a touchy subject to talk about and I know that you hate it that we're keeping information from you, but you must understand that it's all for your own safety. The less you know, the less they can try to get out of you if things go wrong. It's all for your own good."

Jungkook simply cut off her train of thought, only focussing on that one word still replaying in his mind. "We?" he asked almost out of breath.

His mother raised an eyebrow. "We?" she questioned.

"Yes, you said 'we're keeping information from you'," Jungkook said. His mother only looked down, not daring to meet her son's eyes again. "Is there someone else who knows about this? Mum?" he asked, continuously getting more desperate. She just scratched her forehead and let out a sigh, obviously disappointed in herself.

"All you need to know is that you're in danger just by being around those creatures. Now that they're keeping tabs on you, you'll just have to play along and lay low. We should head back to the apartment," the woman stated, already turning around to leave. Jungkook just sprinted after her, blocking her path by stepping in front of her.

"No, for once you're going to listen," he said more determined than ever. The confused look in his mother's eyes was enough to make it melt ever so slightly. Still, he gathered enough courage to speak his mind.

"All these years I've had to deal with this on my own because you wouldn't tell me anything. You sent me to therapy for years but still told me to not talk about the thing that bothered me the most and now that I finally have a chance at getting answers you're just going to walk away and pretend that nothing's happened, again? I won't have this, not anymore," Jungkook spoke, getting more agitated which each word he uttered. His mother just looked at him for a second with sympathy in her eyes like she always would.

"It's for your own good," she said, smashing all her son's hopes. "I know you don't understand right now, but just believe it is."

She pushed right past him.

"Well, since I'm not getting answers from you, who else knows?" Jungkook called after her. "Min Yoongi?" he said on a whim.

His mother seemed to freeze on the spot. She slowly turned around, a shocked look in her eyes. "Where have you heard that name?" she asked.

"He knew dad, didn't he? He was his friend?" Jungkook asked, unapologetic this time. He just saw his mother gulp.

"Where do you know him from?" she asked.

Jungkook just remained quiet. As his mother stepped closer, her stare getting more and more serious, he stood strong. He had made up his mind. He wouldn't give his mother any more answers if she failed to give any to him.

"You first, who is he?" The man said with confidence. His mother just shook her head.

"This is not the time for games, Jungkook," she said. "Tell me."

Her son simply shook his head. "No, not unless you tell me first."

For a second there was just a loaded silence between the two. Both were trying to get the other to break, to get them to forget their rules and give in. Neither of them did.

"Fine," his mother said eventually in a low voice. She turned around and started walking away. Her son just stood there, dumbfounded and disappointed.

"You know he gave me some advice," Jungkook spoke up. His mother stopped in her tracks, twisting her body to listen. "He told me to stay away from angels and demons. He said that he had had his fair share of bad luck because of them and that I shouldn't follow in his footsteps," Jungkook explained, recalling the conversation he had with the mysterious man. "Is it that much to ask why?" he added in a more desperate tone.

It was quiet for a moment. It almost seemed as if his mother was having an internal struggle, a battle of morals and thoughts that she couldn't quite figure out. His son was just the same, desperately waiting for a comment. He knew he had pushed a nerve by bringing up the stranger. Jungkook just knew he had played a big role in the story of his mother and his father. Both of them knew more than they let on. It was only logical that bringing up the past put a strain on his mother. He had hoped it was enough to make her reconsider her rules, but it only seemed to strengthen them.

"Well, maybe there's some truth to his words," his mother concluded. "You should follow his advice."

And with that, she walked away, waiting for her son to join her after he shook his head in disappointment. The walk home was quiet, his head was anything but.

I'm sorry I didn't update last week. I've been insanely busy lately with school and I had loads of concerts that week. My exam period is starting on Monday as well so I don't know how updates will be affected. Just in general life has been kind of weird lately, so I hope you understand.
