ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 24
"ᴀɴᴛɪꜱᴏᴄɪᴀʟ ᴘᴇꜱꜱɪᴍɪꜱᴛ"The bass of the loud music could be heard from far outside the dorm. The chatter and laughter of the many guests morphed together with the lyrics of the pop songs blasting over the speakers. All of the words were repetitive and simplistic, the conversations were hardly better. The party was too bustling, too hectic, probably only enjoyable in the mind of someone slowed down by alcohol and drugs. That was only one reason as to why Jungkook disliked parties.
Normally, he avoided them. It wasn't exactly a hard thing to do. He didn't have much of a social life so hardly anyone ever invited him to one. Most of the parties he went to were birthdays of long lost friends who needed a longer guest list. He didn't really mind it, parties weren't his type of scene. That was why when Taehyung asked if he would come with him to a party a friend was throwing he declined. At least he intended to. He had told Taehyung many times over that he didn't like parties. They were too loud, too social, there were too many people he didn't know, too many judging faces. There was also always the possibility of an unwelcome guest in the crowd, staring at him with pitch-black eyes, the chance made him anxious. Still, in the end, his boyfriend managed to persuade him.
Normally Taehyung respected his decisions because Jungkook tended to be scared of a lot of things. He needed someone to comfort him and not push him, and Taehyung respected that. This, however, somehow seemed to be an exception. He kept talking about it and how he'd love for him to come with him. In the end, Jungkook decided to give it a chance. He trusted Taehyung. If he said it would be alright, then he could at least try.
His decision only got reinforced when he talked to Namjoon about it. Apparently, his roommate knew the male who was throwing the party. His name was Seokjin. They had some classes together and from Namjoon's words, he seemed like a nice person. Namjoon asked if he could come with them, that was the last bit of convincing Jungkook needed. If even Namjoon wanted to go to that party then he would be alright. The elder was even more cautious than him when it came to partying and any scenario that involved drugs and alcohol.
Parties were nothing but a roulette of sins, handing you over from gluttony to lust back to sloth. They were lurking in every corner, hidden in drinks and flirtatious words. People enjoyed alcohol as if it was worth more than their lives, followed strangers as if they were their best friends and stayed up as if the night was an even better friend. Therefore it was not a strange thing that Jimin looked around with a disgusted frown on his face. Even though he had a great interest in humans, parties were something completely different. His hatred towards parties was no lesser than Jungkook's.
Everything fell away at parties. Even though they were a social event, with a little bit of alcohol in their stomachs everyone was equal. Parties took society's division, erased it and made their own. People were divided into two categories; those who were there for the fun and those who were there for the numbness. The latter didn't care for whoever was celebrating, they just wanted alcohol and drugs to drag them away from reality for a bit. It allowed them to fall into sin and temptation even more than the others. The ones who came for fun easily outdid themselves. Peer pressure turned them into monsters. The worst of humans came out at parties, that's why he hated them so much.
All complicated thought was replaced by drunken murmurs, all love and respect replaced by a desperate stranger in a tight shirt. It was evident even now, and they hadn't even entered the dorm room yet. Enough people were pressed up against each other in the hallway to make Jungkook uncomfortable. Namjoon just walked on, not even sparing them a second glance. Even though he hated it, it wasn't his place to speak up about it. The younger followed him, entering the dorm.
