ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 21
"ᴋᴇʀᴏꜱᴇɴᴇ ᴏɴ ᴛʜᴇ ꜰʟᴀᴍᴇ ᴏꜰ ᴅᴏᴜʙᴛ"Anger raged through his body. It burned up his lungs, turned his breath to smoke and turned his muscles to coal. The feeling made him nauseous, disgusted. He hated every single second the jealousy affected him. He wasn't supposed to feel anything like this. He was only supposed to feel relief that Jungkook wasn't hurt. It seemed his mind and body had entirely different ideas.
The moment Jimin felt his Jungkook's heartbeat quicken, the same happened to his heartbeat. He thought Jungkook was scared, in danger, not just nervous. The shock was great when instead of a demon he saw only Jungkook and Taehyung when he arrived on earth. Their lips were connected, their bodies and souls intertwined. Immediately his throat constricted, his heart stopped beating, for one moment everything stopped.
He let out a shaky breath. He felt the need to cry, to scream, to pull them away from each other, but he knew he couldn't do any of that. He was an angel. His only purpose was to protect Jungkook from harm and Taehyung so far wasn't proven to be a threat. The only person he had ever caused pain was Jimin, and that was unintentional. He didn't even know the angel existed or that he was watching them at that moment. The human hadn't meant to cause heartbreak.
Jungkook however, would notice immediately. He would feel Jimin's presence the moment his feet hit the earth. He had to act fast. He knew that Jungkook could break the kiss and turn around at any moment. He would see the broken angel, his aura and form slowly collapsing in on himself. He couldn't let the younger see him like that. Jungkook was someone who worried a lot, he would blame himself for how the angel felt. He would feel guilty even though he had no reason to. Or maybe he was so caught up in the moment that he wouldn't even notice. Either way, it would affect their friendship. Jimin knew he couldn't stay there.
He pushed off the ground and disappeared. The world blurred around him. He kept flying and flying, through clouds, ozone and stardust until his feet hit the familiar ground again. The world had turned brighter. He was no longer on earth.
Every time he closed his eyes he saw the scene in front of him again, like a film forever rewinding on his eyelids just to taunt him. Quickly, like a match catching on fire, his sorrow turned to anger. He felt like he wanted to punch something, preferably Taehyung's face. He knew he couldn't. He just gritted his teeth and clenched his muscles, waiting for the storm to pass.
"Back so soon?" a familiar voice spoke. Jimin turned his head to the side, opening his eyes. His gaze met an older and well-built angel. He knew his name was Sungjin. He was in charge of the prison. Without knowing Jimin had flown to the one place in heaven he feared, still, loved at that exact moment. He had been stuck in those cells for a week now and he could already feel it starting to affect his aura, yet at that moment he didn't care, he needed it as if his life depended on it. He needed it to help him forget.
"False alarm," Jimin simply stated. "And I wasn't done here yet."
Sungjin raised an eyebrow in shock. Normally Jimin wasn't someone to jump at the opportunity to torture. The other angels usually had to force him, command him to do so and keep going. Today was different and the elder could see why, feeling the contamination in his atmosphere.
"You can just take a break, you've been working for quite some time now," Sungjin offered. After all, there were rules as to how long angels could torture, for the same reason, there were rules as to how long angels could stay on Earth. It altered them, it was sinful, it removed their grace and peace. Jimin didn't care at that moment. His mind was too far gone to think of composure.
"No," he simply answered before walking forward, towards the cell that he just left for a moment only to check on Jungkook. Sungjin gulped, afraid of the darkness in his brother's eyes. He could sense the air twisting, keeping him on guard.
