ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 5
"ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴏʀɴɪɴɢ ʟɪɢʜᴛ"Jungkook was woken up the next morning by an alarm blaring in his ear. The beeping ached his tired brain. Absent-mindedly he flailed his arm towards his clock and turned it off. The set alarm was a painful reminder of the fact that he had to go to lecture today. After all, they were taking attendance. He could miss a couple of classes but after that, it would limit the number of exams he could take, maybe even resulting in him failing the course.
Everything was unsure now. For as far as Jungkook knew the demons had been tracking him down for quite a while. Now that they had finally found him they weren't going to give up easily. Maybe it would be better if he would just disappear. Maybe he should change his name and appearance and just run, Jimin following closely behind. Never had he woken up and feared the day to come more than today.
With a mind that was completely awake and a still half asleep body, he pushed himself off the bed and took some clothes out of his wardrobe. Just a simple white t-shirt and some jeans. He didn't need to impress anyone at university anyway, there was a big chance he wasn't going today anyway. He dragged his anxious self to the bathroom.
While walking towards the shower he spotted something in his peripheral vision. With a quick turn of his head, his eyes fell on the shape sitting on the couch. The man's eyes closed and his arms crossed his chest. Jungkook jumped, accidentally letting some of his clothes slip from in between his fingertips. The loud clank of his belt hitting the wood caused the angel to wake up immediately. He looked over to the startled younger.
"Good morning. Did I scare you?" he asked with a hoarse voice. Jungkook nodded a slight blush creeping up his cheeks.
"I'm not used to having someone else in the house except for Namjoon," he said reaching down and picking up his fallen clothes. His eyes quickly drifted to the door next to his bedroom at the mention of his roommate, it was still closed.
"Were you sleeping?" Jungkook asked. Jimin nodded rubbing his eyes. "I thought you didn't sleep."
"Just because I don't have to to survive, doesn't mean that I can't. Last night I scouted the neighbourhood for few hours and after that I just got bored," Jimin explained while stretching out his back. "I guess sleep is relaxing but I still don't understand why everyone likes it so much. It's overrated if you ask me."
Jungkook just laughed at the angel's exclamation. Even though fear was creeping up in his heart and he had never felt more anxious an unsure before, there was some humour to the situation. He only ever saw angels and demons as weird and powerful creatures he should run away from, but Jimin acted surprisingly human. Maybe he only acted that way to appease Jungkook, either way, it helped his heart settle for a bit.
"So, what are we supposed to do now?" Jungkook asked with a lump forming in his throat. Jimin contemplated for a second, laying his arm on the armrest and crossing his legs.
"It's best if you just act like normal, I'll follow you wherever and protect you," the angel decided. Jungkook nodded. "if we start running now the demons will only feel that more tempted to go after you, we should keep them in the dark."
"What about people around me?" the younger asked. "Wouldn't I bring them in danger?"
Jimin breathed out slowly. "Less if you stay," he stated. "If you run now they will lose track of you. They will want you to come back somewhere where you're vulnerable and they will do that in whatever way possible, probably through the people you live. If we're close to them I can keep them away. Only the most fearless demons would interrupt an angel with orders."
