Archie's POV
I was rummaging through my closest trying to find a decent shirt to wear. Normally I'd just go with the simple raglan top but I want to look good, I feel like I have to look good for Betty. I eventually settled on a simple white v neck tshirt with a light blue button up shirt to wear over the top. Realising that it was getting close to 8 o'clock I decided to jump in the shower to get the mud out of my hair.

Betty's POV
I couldn't believe that I had almost kissed Archie. It's such a surprise I didn't think he felt that way about me. I better not other think this I need to speak to someone about it Veronica. I picked up my phone and clicked on Veronica's name. I the phone rang for about 39 seconds until going to her voicemail.
'Hi, you've reached Veronica Lodge, I can't get to the phone right now, make sure to leave a message.'
'V, it's Betty. Look I really need to talk to you about something. Me and archie are going to Pops before Mooses party tonight, meet us there around 8:15.'
I sighed and put the phone down on my dresser and looked at the time on my phone.
Oh crap it's almost 8 o'clock! I had already showered so I didn't need to worry about my hair being wet but I need to find the perfect outfit. I eventually settled on some blue skinny jeans with a white blouse with a deep neck, and I paired it with some simple grey heeled boots.
After getting dressed and deciding to leave my hair down tonight, I checked the time to see to see it was 7:55, I was curious as to whether archie was ready yet. Knowing him he was probably rushing about in his room trying to find things. I looked out my window and peeked into his, there was no sign of him, but then he appeared from the hallway with nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist. God his body was amazing, so muscly yet not to muscly just the right kind. This boy will be the death of me. Due to getting lost in my thoughts I was unaware that I was staring directly at Archie and he was stairing back at me with the cheeriest grin ever. I blushed in embarrassment and looked away for a few seconds then looked back. Archie was pointing at the street indicating to meet him outside. I smiled and walked out my bedroom and down the stairs but before heading out the door I looked in the mirror which hung above a side table and smile at myself, I made sure everything was perfect but not too perfect. As I opened the front door archie was leaning against the stair banisters waiting for me, he looked so good in what he was wearing. The shirt hugged his chest just the right amount and his jeans where the perfect fit. He looked up and smiled at me with such a smirk.
"Got a little distracted earlier, did you like what you saw a little too much?" Archie asked in playful tone while nudging me lightly.
"In your dreams archie!" I said while slightly pushing him off the footpath
We slowly headed towards Pops with nothing but the street lights and the moon, lighting up the roads of riverdale.

Archie's POV
We entered Pops and walked over to our usual booth and making our usual order. I didn't exactly know what Betty had being talking about due to the fact that I hadn't being listening but I couldn't help but just watch her and every detail of her. The way her forehead creases when she's concerned or how her cheeks blush a bright red when she's nervous or how the bright neon lights of Pops make every detail of her that much more beautiful. She was just so stunning and I was so lucky to call her my best friend, I just wished it was more.
Soon I was brought back down to reality with Betty waving a hand in front of my face while saying my name.
"Arch, Arch are you there? Arch?" Betty quietly said
"Hmm, sorry I was just distracted." I couldn't help but feel my cheeks burn up as Betty slightly laughed to herself.
"Yeah I could tell. What's going on in Archie land, you've being a little spaced out recently."  Betty asked with intrigue in her voice
"Oh nothing really, just the thinking about a lot of things, music." I said with a chuckle but a hint of nervousness in my voice. Betty was able to see right through me sometimes so I had to make sure I covered this up.
Soon after chatting for abit the food had arrived and I watched Betty's face light up in joy.
"Jeez Betty, you must be really hungry. The last time I saw your face light up like that because of food was when we had that sleepover when we where kids and we had all kinds of junk food for the night." I said with amusement
"Archie Andrews, you should know how much I love food by now, you've seen my worst eating habits, haven't you?" Betty said with a slight giggle.
"Oh I have, no question about that." I said with a smirk, whilst Betty threw a chip at me.
I then heard the door open and looked over to see veronica waking towards us. Betty turned around and then back to me.
"Oh I forgot to tell you, I asked Veronica to meet us here, I hope that's okay." Betty asked with a apologetic tone.
"Oh it's fine, don't worry about it." I said with a happy smile.
This was perfect this is the perfect opportunity to ask Veronica for help on how to tell Betty about my feelings for her.
"Hey Ronnie, how are things going?"
"Pretty good Andrews, I'm looking forward to a nice relaxed winter break god knows we all need one." Veronica stated as she sat down in booth next to Betty.
I lightly chuckled to myself "oh I agree to that, I need a long break! And I'm really hoping things change this winter." I couldn't help but stare at Betty through the corner of my eye and smile.
"Okay well if you'll excuse me, I have to run to the bathroom. I'll be back in about five minutes." I said as I slid out of the booth and headed towards the bathroom.

Veronica's POV
As I walked into Pops I could see Betty and Archie in there usual booth, laughing and smiling. God they'd be so cute together I'm just waiting for them both to realise it, well more for Archie to realise it. I slid into the booth next to Betty and we spoke for a while about winter break. I noticed after archie spoke about what he wants in the winter break, he gave a quick look in Betty's direction out of the corner of his eye. Oh my god is it happening, is archie developing feelings for Betty, I need to speak to him but first I need to speak to Betty.
As soon as Archie slid out of the booth I ran to the other side and faced Betty.
"Okay tell me what's up!" I said as I placed my hands on the table
"Okay well, I was helping archie with his football practice and yes I know it's strange don't laugh at me. But anyway we practicing and I tackled archie to the ground and due to the fact that it was muddy, I got mud on face and he wiped it off and he leaned into me and I was leaning in to and we where about to kiss but that's when you texted." Betty said in a fast pace whilst fiddling with her fingers and glowing a bright red.
"And I thought that due to the fact that he wouldn't tell me but he might tell you, do you know if he has feelings for me." Betty asked with curiosity.
I couldn't help but smile and grin like a maniac.
"What is it? Why are you smiling like that?" Betty asked me with concern.
"I've being waiting so long for you two to get together and now it's finally happening!"
"Well we don't know cause he might not like me, but do you know if he does or doesn't?"
"No sorry B, I don't. But I could try and get an answer out of him tonight if you'd like."
"Oh my god V, yes that's perfect. Let me know when you find out!" Betty said in pure excitement. We grabbed each others hands and started smiling and squirming excitedly.
"Hey what are two so happy about?" Archie asked as he slid back into the booth.
"Oh nothing just girl stuff, it would interest you Andrews trust me." I said while looking at Betty with a smile.
"Okay well I'm going to go touch up in the bathroom." Betty said as she slipped out of the booth and eyed me implying I needed to ask archie.
"Wait Betty! While your up do you reckon you could pay for dinner? Just hang on let me get some money out of my pocket. Here take this 50 buck note." Archie said as he handed Betty the note. God you could cut the chemistry between them with a knife. I noticed Archie's gaze follow Betty as she headed towards the bathroom and when he turned back he had the biggest smile on his face.
"Okay fess up Andrews, what's going on between you and Betty?" I exclaimed as I slammed my hand lightly on the table.
"What are you taking about Ronnie? Nothing, nothing at all I don't have feelings for Betty, your imagining it." Archie began to ramble which he never does unless he's nervous.
"Okay judging by rambling, you like her and your to afraid to do anything about it?"
"Alright yeah, I have feelings for Betty and it's not that I'm afraid to do anything about it I just don't know how to approach it or tell her." Archie said in defeat
"Okay listen to me Andrews, Betty likes you and is crazy about you. She knows you better than anyone and will love you no matter what, you just need to be honest with her."
"It's not that simple Ronnie. I broke her heart last summer remember and I don't want to do that again. It needs to be special and have meaning to it."
"Look Betty's coming back, we are going to have to continue this conversation at the party okay?" I said to archie with a reassuring look, he just nodded in reply.
"You guys ready to go?" Betty said with a smile on her face.
"Yep, let's head out!" Archie said whilst grabbing a hold of Betty's hand and started heading towards the exit.
I slowly followed and looked at my two best friends who were madly falling for one another, looks like I'm playing the role of matchmaker tonight.
"You coming V?" Betty asked as her and archie waited by he door.
"Yeah coming!" I said as I walked towards the door and out into the cold air of riverdale.
