Archie's POV
The drive to the lake was no different to how it use to be, well besides the occasional kisses. There was constant laughter, blasting music, loud singing and tickle wars. It was impossible not to watch Betty, the way she rested her arms on the car window, sticking her head slightly out the window making her golden blond locks flow in the wind so perfectly. The way her skin radiated in the sunlight and her eyes sparkled like the pacific ocean. I slowly pulled the car to a slow stop, pulling off to the side of the road slightly.
"Why we stopping Arch?" Betty asked puzzlingly as she turned her gaze to look at me. I quickly pulled the handbrake up and reached into my jacket pocket to pull out a blind fold.
"You need to put this on. So you don't see the surrounding areas." I quickly said with a laugh as I turned my body to gaze Betty.
"Arch, in case you don't remember I've being to sweet water lake, I know the surroundings and everything about it." Betty stated with a slight laugh causing her to smile to radiate.
"Just do it." I retorted as a smile escapes my lips as well as a light laugh. Even though she was right, I still wanted to surprise her.
"Fine, but this better be worth it." Betty exclaimed as she took the blind fold from my hands before placing it over her eyes. She slumped back into her seat before putting her feat up onto the dashboard. Even without seeing her eyes, Betty was still the most beautiful thing ever to exist on this planet.
Five more minutes had passed since stopping and we had arrived at the location. Even though it was cold and it was winter, it was still beautiful. The sun was out, seeping through the tress while reflecting off the river, it was one of those days where it was cold but in the sun was just like summer. I could see ahead a few meters up from the shoreline right next to an old tree stump a picnic rug laid out with flowers and cushions and blankets, that I had asked Veronica, Jughead and Kevin to set up. This day had to be perfect and amazing and I couldn't wait to see Betty's reaction. I quickly pulled the hand break up and turned off the ignition before turning to Betty and placing my hand on her thigh, giving it a light squeeze. "This isn't where you kill me is it?" Betty asked as her head turned to look in my general direction. I let out a light cackle before leaning forward and placing a soft kiss on her cheek. "Not exactly." I said as I moved back and opened my door to exit the car. I quickly jumped out running round to the other side opening the door for Betty while reaching out to grab a hold of her hand. She gently grasped at my hand as she exited the car, with me shutting the door behind her before wrapping my free arm around her waist to ensure she didn't fall over anything.
We slowly began walking towards the picnic rug and I could feel all the nerves in my body coming together to form a not in my stomach. All I wanted is for her to like it.
"Alright just a few more steps. Slowly." I said as we became closer to the picnic rug. We slowly stopped walking just as we came a meter away from the picnic rug. I gently moved my hand away from Betty's waist and let go of her hand before walking over to the picnic rug and picking up the bouquet of orchids that lay in the centre. Before telling her she could take off the blindfold I quickly looked around making sure that everything was where it should be.
"Alright you can take the blindfold off now."Betty's POV
"Alright you can take the blindfold off now." I heard Archie say. Excitement rushed throughout my body, I quickly removed the blindfold from my eyes revealing mine and Archie's favourite spot at sweat water river with a picnic rug laid out with cushions and blankets and the most handsome man standing in front of it with a bouquet of my favourite flowers. I could feel my heart begin beating out of my chest, Archie truely did more than enough this time. I guess I had being standing in silence for longer than Archie had wanted.
"Do you like it?" Archie questioned with a hint of worry in his voice, I turned my gaze towards him to meet his beautiful brown eyes that made my heart go crazy. I could tell by his expression that he was concerned that I didn't like what he'd done. His eyes glistened in the light and just like usual I found myself staring in awe at all his features and just him as a person. I quickly began approaching him, placing both my hands on his cheeks when I reached him moulding his lips against mine. My hand moved to the back of his head, tangling my fingers in his roots while my other hand remains on his cheek over his defined cheek bones. I quickly deepened the kiss while feeling Archie's arm wrap around my waist pulling my body towards his. The lust was indescribable and the passion was amazing. I could hear a slight moan escape Archie's lips as they parted slightly before moulding together once again.
"Save it for later speed racer." I let out with a slight moan as we parted while biting down on my lip. The smirk that was plastered on Archie's face was enough to make my heart explode. He gently leaned forward and placed a light kiss on my lips before taking both my hands in his and guiding me to the picnic rug. It was beautiful, the simple plaid rug was covered in fluffy cushions and had blankets in the corner with a basket in the middle which revealed to show endless amounts of food. I slowly placed my self right next to Archie so that my knees where overlapping his thighs a little while the space between our sides grew slim.
"What do we have hear Mr.Andrews?" I questioned while turning my gaze to him with a large smile growing on my face. Archie let out a light laugh as his smile grew wider.
"Well Ms.Cooper, we have a wide collection. Mainly consisting of all your favourite foods." Archie said as began pulling food out of the basket. "We have macaroni and cheese, fries from pops, sour patch kids, strawberries, strawberry milkshakes, lemonade, a sundae which I know pops doesn't do takeaway for but I did some persuading, raspberry pie, cookies and cream ice cream, hot chocolate and lastly your favourite chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting." Archie stared as he finished pulling out every single item and placing them on a wooden board in front of us. The smile on my face was set in stone and wasn't disappearing. This was incredible.
"Arch, this is amazing. You didn't have to go to all this trouble. Like I said spending the day with you is enough." I said as placed my hand on his broad shoulder and rested my head on top so that our faces where only centimetres apart.
"I know I didn't have to, but with everything that's being going on in the past year, you deserve a special day like this and I wanted to make sure it wasn't just like any other birthday." Archie exclaimed with a smile as he turned his gaze to meet my eyes, while a small smile played on his lips. The temptation then and there to just smash my lips against his was unreal. I could feel my heart beat increasing the longer we continued gazing at one another and the butterflies kept growing in my stomach.
"Well I love it so much. Thank you." I said as I leant up to place a light but longing kiss on his lips. "Your welcome" I could hear Archie muttering in between kisses. I slowly leant back so that our foreheads where leaning against each other's, gazing into Archie's hazel eyes while biting down my lip with a small smile, while Archie's smile was as same as ever big and bright.
"Shall we eat?" Archie asked as he leant his head back and moved one of his arms behind us too support his body.
"Yes! We shall." I squealed in excitement as I leaned forward and grabbed the strawberries before returning to my position.
