Arabella swallows.
Arabella's laughter quickly became loud and erratic with each passing second, she had to stop to catch her breath while Maddox smiled at her and ran his hands through his fucked up hair.
"Fuck!" She managed to say before going back to her fit of laughter.
Maddox liked her laugh, it was real and genuine. Not the usual fake and sarcasm filled chuckles she would so often give.
After a while, Arabella regained her composure and wiped the tears away from underneath her eyes, "I haven't laughed like that in a while." She said playfully punching Maddox in his arm while they continued to walk down the damp and darkened street.
Maddox shrugged his shoulder before sticking his both of his hands into his pockets, "I didn't think me getting caught is funny."
Arabella chuckled again, "Your mom sent you to reform camp for a summer just because she found porn on your laptop, how isn't that funny?"
He rolled his eyes, "My mom is something else."
Arabella raised both eyebrows and scoffed, "I bet, her and your father make such a good couple."
Maddox turned to look at Arabella who was busy staring at the street, "You said that sarcastically."
"I didn't." She replied with a smirk forming on her face.
Suddenly, Maddox's phone began to ring and fill their ears with the generic iPhone ringtone.
Pulling his phone out, Maddox shut his eyes and exhaled in annoyance, "Fuck me." He muttered to himself not realizing that Arabella was looking at his phone too.
"I'll answer him." Arabella said pulling the phone from his hand, "If anything, he'll go easier on you if I talk to him."
Maddox shook his head slowly and gave up, "I'm fucked anyways."
Arabella smiled and swiped her finger across the screen to answer, "Mr. Reign," She cheerfully exclaimed once she raised the cellphone to her ear, "It's Arabella Huxtable." She happily clarified as she began to subconsciously bite down on her lower lip.
Maddox, leaning against the brick wall behind him watched her with anticipation.
"Arabella where is my son?" Stanford sternly asked through the other line, "His mother and I grounded him."
Arabella could tell by the way he was speaking so formerly that his wife must've been beside or around him otherwise, he would've probably been threatening her.
In all honesty, it just made her want to laugh more.
"Maddox is such a gentleman he offered to walk me home so I wouldn't walk alone at this time." She replied staring over at Maddox who gave her a morbid thumbs up.
She heard Stanford sigh in frustration and she couldn't help but squeal from the excitement she was getting, "Look Arabella-"
"Mr. Reign, he'll call you once we're done together." Arabella told him right before she hung up but only she and Stanford knew what she meant by that.
