Arabella was defeated and tired by the time she had stumbled back home, her body cold to the touch and her head aching with the reeling thoughts of the events that happened just 7 hours ago.

She took her time walking up the porch steps, her shoes wet from the melted snow as were the rest of her clothes, her sleek body glistening under the bright and unforgiving porch light. She held her breath as she trembled to bend down and flip the upper right corner of the dark brown mat to grab the house key.

Arabella struggled to open the door but then finally she did, her body feeling tired and heavy as the warmth of the home flooded around her.

Putting the key back, she stepped in and shut the door behind her, only when she had shut the door and turned around she found Kate standing at the bottom of the staircase, arms crossed against her chest and a scowl on her soft face.

Arabella sighed and moved quickly to walk past her and up the stairs.

Kate slightly turned to watch her rush up them, "I expect you in the kitchen after you've changed."

Arabella shut her eyes tightly from being so annoyed she just wanted the long day to be over already, "Alright."

After undressing from her wet clothes and getting into some warm pajamas, Arabella wrapped her damp hair up in a towel wishing she were taking a warm bath instead of being pestered by Kate.

At least she wasn't as cold anymore, she thought to herself as she made her way back downstairs to the kitchen where she found Kate sitting at the table, mugs of warm coffee facing her and an empty seat.

Arabella could see the steam rising into the air and evaporating, she frowned as she made her way to sit down on the kitchen table's chair.

Kate said nothing for a few moments before letting herself clear her throat, "You know-"

"I've had a rough night, and no I can't tell you about it." Arabella suddenly interjected as she squeezed the mug in her hand letting it warm it up a bit.

Kate nodded her head, her crystal blue eyes trained onto the troubled young woman she had taken in, "I know, Nate told me everything."

Arabella's head snapped up and her eyes widened, "He did?" She questioned with a raised eyebrow, a look of astonishment on her face instead of her regular neutral or smug façade.

Kate sighed, "Yeah, and I'm sorry it's just his temper."

She scoffed, "And that makes up for what he did?" She asked with a furrowed brow and parted lips.

"Arabella, you were the one who lashed out at him and-"

Arabella held her hand up to stop Kate from speaking, "I lashed out at him?" She sounded incredulous and somewhat frantic, Kate looked confused and nodded her head, Arabella scoffed again as she knocked the towel off of her head and leaned back in the chair.

An angry scowl contorting itself into words as she squeezed the towels fabric in her lap.

"What did he say happened exactly?"

Kate cleared her throat, "He said you were angry about some boy not calling back and that you started to scream at him," Kate paused for a second, "And that he screamed at you to calm down but he didn't mean too he just wanted you to relax and next thing he knew you were leaving."
