—( Before Maddox's and Nathaniel's Confrontation, After the Senior Party)—

It was almost five in the morning when the lone teenager stumbled in through the front door of her home.

Painted across her face was a broad grin that stretched from ear to ear. Her night at the party was everything she had expected, and more. In the span of a few hours, she had taken drugs, drank, and lost her virginity. Naomi thought she was the main star of her own television show.

Unable to contain her self—proclaimed accomplishments, the moment she went up to her bedroom to wipe her makeup off and change into her comfy pajamas, she sent a mass text message to all of her friends in their group chat.

Naomi lived the normal life of every average teenager. She would go to school and get mediocre grades, sing in the choir and play badminton, hang out with friends at a movie theater, store, or boba shop, and then she would come home where all she did was either watch television or do homework.

The only hobby she enjoyed was crocheting.

Naomi was also still high, but could properly function. The boy she was with, Connor, had said to her that the dosage wasn't high and that she would be okay.

She expected to see colorful visuals, but instead, she was feeling calm, elated, and hungry. She went downstairs, where she stood before the open fridge with indecisiveness nipping at her stomach. She hummed a melody to herself as she reached for a box of blueberries.

"Naomi," Kate's voice carried itself throughout the kitchen.

Naomi turned around and flashed a toothy smile.

Kate took a few steps toward her daughter, "Where the hell did you two go? Where's Arabella?"

Naomi put a handful of blueberries in her mouth. She hoped that chewing for a long period of time would get her out of the third—degree questioning.

"Naomi Inez," Kate said her name sternly, "Answer me when I'm talking to you."

Naomi closed the fridge and turned to look at her mom. Kate refrained from gasping when she noticed that her daughter's eyes were massively dilated. She could barely see her blue irises.

Kate shook her head slowly from the disbelief, "You're high."

Naomi flipped her hair away from her shoulder and chuckled, "Maybe, I can still function, though."

"Sit down," Kate decided to save the lecture for later. The mother primarily wanted to focus on the wellbeing of her daughter. Punishment and yelling wouldn't work on her fragile state of mind.

Naomi leaned back on the wooden chair and groaned. She closed her eyes and began to drift into a lucid stupor.

Kate felt herself tense up, but she went to grab a glass of water for her. Naomi drank it up and then crumbled into herself.

"I'm so tired," the young girl muttered as her mother gingerly grabbed a part of her curly hair and began to take out small pieces of red lint from it.

"Let's get you to bed then?" Kate said to her. She was upset and felt deceived, but at least Naomi was home. That was one load off her mind. However, she was still worried about Arabella and her whereabouts.

She decided that she would try calling her again as soon as she got Naomi safely tucked in her bed.

Naomi got up from her chair and began to walk toward the hall, and she was admittedly happy that she could finally rest in her bed and suffer her consequences later.
