It was nighttime. Actually, way past midnight. The clock on the wall said it was hitting 4.30 in the morning. And I was still up, gazing out the window over Los Angeles.

Somewhere out there, Jason was, flipping out most probably. Maybe he sent people out all over LA to look for me. Either out of concern, or just because he was after me. I knew that I'd be stupid to think it was the former. Jason didn't care about my feelings at all, however I still caught myself worrying and feeling for him occasionally. I hated myself for it, guys like Jason didn't deserve love. And what surprised me most was that I, "Shailene fucking Ashley", was too weak to stand up to him. Because fuck, the guy I fell in love with showed himself sometimes, and when he did, I'd be falling for him all over again.

There was no denying that Jason was hot. The name Jason in itself was hot, and his looks matched the name perfectly. And somewhere his attitude did too.

I was scared to death of him finding me. Jason wasn't one to reason with. He did what he wanted and refused to listen to anyone talk him out of it. So even if I called him and begged him to be easy on me when I came home, he'd not listen.

And the scariest part was that I hadn't even seen the worst of him yet. Fuck, I hadn't even experienced bad for that matter. And here I was, in this very unusual situation with the light at the end of the tunnel nowhere to be seen.

"I'm meeting Kayleigh at the Grove in a few." Ethan said as he grabbed an apple. I bent over and leant on the countertop, towards Ethan. "Oooh, what are you guys gonna do?" I asked him curiously. "Just hang out there. Maybe shop a little, get some food." He responded casually.

"Do you like this girl?" I smirked lightly as his cheeks turned a bit red. "You're nosey." He answered, obviously changing the subject. "I'm not. I'm just asking a simple question. As I'm a girl, maybe I could help." I said, smiling in a friendly way.

"I do not need advice from a girl who's running from her boyfriend." He chuckled. I forced a chuckle out of myself, fiddling my fingers.

"I'm sorry.. I didn't mean it like that." He apologized. Just as he did, there was a knock on the door.

"Don't worry about it." I said, forcing a light smile before he went to get the door.

Currently it was hitting 12, and Grayson was still asleep. I'd been chatting with Ethan all morning. I was still wearing Grayson's old clothes, but today was the day that my new clothes would be delivered.

"Shay, they're your clothes." Ethan yelled from the hallway.

And that time seemed to be right now.

I walked into the hallway, seeing Ethan carry the box inside. I thanked him as he passed me, put down my signature and closed the door.

I walked into the kitchen, Ethan leaning against the counter and staring at the box. I wondered what was in it.

"Can I have something sharp, please?" I asked Ethan. He handed me a pair of scissors. I opened the small box and looked in, finding out that this was all the underwear I had ordered.

"Imma go change real quick." I told Ethan.

I walked into my bedroom where I put on some clean underwear, tossing my old ones in a basket after asking Ethan what to do with the dirty laundry.

I couldn't change my clothes yet, that would have to wait until later today.

"Hey, I gotta go." Ethan said, grabbing his jacket. "Alright. Have fun with Kayleigh." I said as he pulled it on. He smiled, then seemed to pause for a second.
