Grayson's POV

"It's up!" I heard Ethan say from the kitchen. His phone screen was now pointed at me, so I put a quick smile on my face and put my hands up in the air. "Go watch it!" I shouted, laying on the couch.

Ethan ended the Snapchat video, and instantly my face fell back into it's previous depressed expression. My head sunk back into the pillow, and I slid my hand under my head to support it as I watched TV, but even after switching channels, everything kept annoying me. So eventually I just shut the TV off and stared at a black screen instead.

"Yo," I heard Ethan say, walking up to the couch where I laid. I hummed. "Keep your chin up, alright bro. We're gonna find her." He said, leaning over the back of the couch and looking down at me. "We have no idea where she is, E. Not even a clue. She could be out of the country already, we just don't know where to look. And even if we do find her, who knows what's happened to her in the time she's been gone. It's been two days already." I said, refusing to take my eyes off the TV and face Ethan.

"You sound like you're giving up already." Ethan said, nudging my shoulder, aggravating me.

"I'm not giving up!" I defended, sitting up straight and putting my head in my hands. "But the fact that we have no idea where to look is frustrating." I said, rubbing my eyes with my palms. I had barely slept last night, "Well, they've identified the faces that took her, and they're on the lookout for Jason Forest too. They know the license plate of the car that she was taken in, they know it's been stolen.."

"Exactly. It was stolen. That means that there isn't any useful information assigned to it." I said, turning towards him. "Grayson, this is how all investigations start out!" Ethan said, still keeping his voice down.

"Listen, okay, we're gonna find her." He assured me, kneeling down beside me. I sighed, throwing my head back. "I know. I'm just lost, right now. You know? I feel worthless, sitting here and not knowing what to do while she's out there somewhere, going through something she doesn't deserve." I said, looking down at Ethan who wore a worried expression.

"Yo, Shailene's tough, man. You know that, I know that. She won't let just anyone mess with her." Ethan said to me, and I knew he was right. But the fact that they knocked her out with ketamine was just unfair. No matter how strong or brave you are, you can't win a fight like that.

The police found an anaesthetic called ketamine on our kitchen floor, which was most likely what they injected her with. Ketamine is used for surgeries, to induce loss of conciousness and maintain anaesthesia. Inserted in a vein or in muscle, it can work in under 5 minutes. Taken by mouth, it could take up to 30 minutes, which is why they assume they inserted it in a vein or muscle.

"I'm gonna be sick," I said, standing up and taking a few deep breaths to try and push away the nauseous feeling I had. I walked into the hallway with the intention of going into my bathroom, but as I passed the guest room, I could help but notice how empty it looked. I stopped in the doorway, looking down at Shay's bed, the sheets still in the same place at the end of the bed, exactly where I left it.

I remembered the way she fell asleep on my shoulder, that innocent expression she had on her face. I could still hear her laugh everytime I answered a funny question one of the fans sent in.

I walked over to the bed and laid down, placing one hand under my head, and looking at the other. The purple smiley face on my ring finger was still there, reminding me of her. I stared up at the ceiling, sighing as I pictured her laying next to me, just like 2 nights ago. Shailene had some kind of effect on me, and as hard as I tried, I couldn't stop it. Really I barely knew her, since she was so scared to let her guard down. But she was so amazing, and she kept you guessing.
