What did he mean by he can't open the path for me? For goodness sake, I've come a long way and then I find out I'm back to square one? Goddammit!
I bury my head in my hands, despair coming over me. Now what shall I do? I can't go back and face my mother, knowing all too well that I failed her.
"However, young man..."
From my position, my hands shifted to the table, almost banging them in the process. My gaze directed onto the Druid, who had a strange glimmer in his eyes. There's still hope I guess?
"There's someone who can help you. I just do not know if she still exists."
"You do not know?" I asked, careful not to raise my voice.
"Yes, she's in and out of this world, constantly traveling everywhere."
My mind was boggling, there's someone else who can help me but no one's sure if she still resides in this world. If only I knew of her location...
"You have a different aura, Nicholas. I am confident you'll find her."
"What is her name, if I may know?"
"Vensetta. Vensetta Stone." Prince Jae'nalia declared without delay.
"I see, well," I stood up and bowed. "I shall go find this maiden."
---
When I got out from where we talked, I heard someone call my name. They sounded distant but it was clear they were looking for me.
"Nicholas! You idiot, you were just here all along!"
"Oh, hey France. What are you doing here?"
"Looking for you, what else?" She fumed, "My sister told me to accompany you because I was being lazy at the palace."
"Who told you? Myla?" I asked, out of curiosity.
"Duh, Platinein, who else?" She sulked. I guess she must've been looking for me for a while now, I could still see the beads of sweat on her forehead. I wiped them off and we both set out.
When I wiped off her sweat, she was warmer than ever. Is she sick? Also, I saw that she looked redder, as if she had sunburn or something.
"I can see what you're thinking and yes, I was sick." She mumbled.
"And you didn't appeal it to her?" I got a little furious, Platinein, this is too much!
"No, I didn't. I'm confident that I can help you in your journey."
"Yet you're sick-"
"Was sick. Don't you get that? It's in past tense, obviously, I'm not sick anymore. Stop worrying and let's go find that Stone girl."
I stopped on my tracks. We weren't riding our horses at this time.
"How?"
She only sent me a glance and continued walking. So, she knew that too? God, Platinein, that child is so stubborn in spilling me the beans!
"For your information, mein schwester is not stubborn. It's only her role that's making her hard to interrogate."
Was I speaking out loud or did she read my thoughts again?
"So, anything about Vensetta's whereabouts?" I question.
"Zero. Zilch. Nada." She replied, waving off her hand dismissively. "We are to find her on our own, it seems."
"Oh, I see..."
We continued walking in the woods, silence taking over. We hadn't spoke a single word ever since I asked of Vensetta's whereabouts. I didn't notice this much but, her hair has been tied up in a half ponytail and wasn't wearing the gown I saw her wear. She was wearing something more outdoorsy, she wore a purple dress and a brown leather belt under a black hood, which she left down. She wore a knee high black combat boots with daggers and a throwing star hidden in each of the shoelaces.
"We should camp out here. It's getting quite dark, don't you think?"
We were far from Sol'entera and we had no choice but to stay here. I gathered up some firewood and left them in front of France, who just sat down and leaned back on a tree.I guess she's still sick after all.
"Hey, I gathered up enough. We only need fire."
"I'll take care of that."
I first thought she going to use the old rubbing two rocks together trick but then, I saw her unleash a fire power from her bare hands. I was left in a trance yet she snapped her fingers in my face, forcing me back into reality.
"You have powers?"
"Well, no, I don't have but, Platinein gave me something." She pointed at her necklace which has a simple silver shaped teardrop dangling from the lace. "This makes me do some spells."
"That's fascinating..." My voice trailed off when I also leaned back on the tree on her right side. Sleep slowly consumed my every being but I fought hard on it. I turned my attention towards France, who was already in Dreamland. She didn't look uncomfortable with her position as of the moment, but knowing that she may still be ill, I made her lie down, head resting on my thigh. She remained unfazed amidst all this and later on, I drifted off to sleep.
---
I woke up first. I checked her forehead as soon as I woke up and surprisingly, she was better. It made me sigh, I was relieved that she didn't get worse or else, we're going to find medicine for her.
I saw her eyes flutter open. "Oh, you're awake? Here I thought I'll be first." She stretched for a while and sat up.
"Eh, well..." I scratched the back of my neck.
"Hope that part," She pointed at where her head was placed earlier, "Isn't sore."
"Don't worry about that!"
"Who said I was worried?" She stood up and crossed her arms. "Come on, idiot, we still have to find Vensetta."
"Aren't you going to help me up?" I asked, hoping she's not that stubborn. Surprisingly, she offered a hand after rolling her eyes and helped me up.
"Idiotic idiot..." She grumbled, walking off on her own. I followed her as soon as I dusted myself off.
"Do you know where we're going?" I asked.
"No clue." She snickered then boarding her own horse. It was a shiny white horse with a gray mane. "Gerumpen, lead the way, my boy."
The horse kicked up in the air and started to run. France stopped it, realizing I was left behind. She laughed at me, but still she waited.
I finally caught up with her, and her horse led the way. I'm not sure how he knows where to go but, I trust France to lead me where Vensetta resides, after all, she's our last hope for now.
Suddenly, something went faster from us, and so we both put our horses to a halt.
"What was that?"
But she ignored my question, instead, she spoke, "I figured you'll show up, sooner or later."
She urged Gerumpen to move towards the direction of the mysterious entity from earlier and I had no choice but to follow her movements. Her words rang a mystery, why would France say such a thing, unless...
"You know who that was?!" I yelled, the horses feet were much louder so there was no choice but to raise my voice.
"Of course, idiot!" She replied back, perfectly dodging all the obstacles in her way.
"Then who was that?!"
"Vensetta Stone, who else?!"

@ceramic_moonlight ruined something in me so I got a little distracted with one scene above. dang it!! XD
Instead of using "fool", I substituted "idiot" bc why not, besides, wouldn't be too repetitive if all of them says fool? XD
