My eyes could not believe what I was seeing. There was a holographic image of someone I read in one of my books. She looked too royal, too prim and proper. When she spoke, my nerves immediately sent shivers down my spine, for someone who looks really young, she sure spoke with much dignity.
"Under our noses? What's that supposed to mean?" I found myself asking.
"I am not one to give clues; I do not speak in a literal way, figurative language is what I prefer using."
She is one hell of a stubborn child, that I am sure of.
"Would you care to give us more?" The man who looked royal, and also apparently, Michiko's son asked in a calm tone.
"Beware, they have breached this world's borders." Her eyes were closed, seemingly in thought.
"They?" The girl that always raged at me asked.
"You will know of their identity soon enough. As of now, focus on finding your item." She turned her attention to her mother, "I want to speak in a more private location, mother. There is something that I have to tell you."
France gave her necklace to her mother to talk to this mysterious person. They went upstairs and stayed in a room to talk of this matter.
"How can she be under our noses the entire time?"
That question was left hanging in the air. No one had an answer, let alone, an answer to who this person was. I am fairly sure that this person they're talking about is someone they've probably met, and they just forgot about them.
Not long after, Fran went downstairs, the holographic image already missing in her hand. She apparently bid farewell, but was that just it? They seemed to take a rather long discussion upstairs, which further heightened my curiosity. As she went down the stairs, I could not read her expression. There was a mix of grief and confusion in them and so, I wanted to know.
What can I say? I am full of curiosity.
"What did she tell you?" Michiko interrogated as she stepped on the rug.
"Nothing of importance." She simply replied and handed France back her necklace.
"Oh really? I seem to pick up a hint of suspicion in your tone, Queen of Metallicus." Michiko taunted, crossing her arms. "What exactly are you hiding?"
Queen of Metallicus? I think I remember reading that in my book. Usually, I don't pay attention to some of the kingdoms in that book but now that she mentioned it, it rang a bell.
"I am not hiding any sort of thing." Her dark gray eyes glared into the other's emerald ones. "I do not know what is in your mind as of now, yet I can tell you that what my daughter said was not of any importance to you, Queen of Spiralla."
Michiko huffed and growled. I think I understand why she had to know; her daughter's life really did meant to her and she would carefully examine every information that may be connected to her.
"Father," the girl began, her tone dripping of a mix of British and German accent. "When was the last time you had any sort of lead regarding my niece's loss?"
"A week ago, just before we began our stay here."
She put up a finger in her left temple in a thinking position. "What piece of information was given?"
"We were only given of that woman's identity and her address."
"The informant should have given more information regarding that, yes? How will that be of help somehow?"
"With those pieces, we were able to at least, get a more definitive result of her, being the sole target of this whole case."
As much as I wanted to analyze what they were talking about, I could not for I felt like something was stopping me. It felt like my brain would not even want to register all these things. I desperately tried to shake my head, attempting to at least get this bothersome obstacle that stopped me.
"You." She pointed at me. I jumped when I saw it, and cowered a bit. "Stay there."
I followed her instruction, my feet staying still on the floor. She made her way towards me and put both of her palms on either sides of my temple. I was, at first, startled by it but then, chills started to prick its way to my arms. The way her palms were pressed on my temples felt like she was digging my brain. It hurt, as if she's opening my skull.
"Snap out of it!"
She lost consciousness but thankfully, Fran was there to catch her falling body. Her eyes looked like it was squeezed shut, her forehead was scrunched. She was the type of person you'll see when you encounter them experiencing a nightmare. She suddenly turned pale, which forced the two queens to perform some sort of healing spell on her.
"You're dangerous."
If Michiko's eyes would pierce me to death, I would surely be dead.
"You, what are you hiding?"
Fran interrogated me, still clutching her pale and unconscious daughter. My hands went up to my chest in reflex, denying her claim.
"I have nothing to hide!" I managed to say without stammering.
"She had a serious case of what you might call a trauma. It is not exactly that word yet it is close to it. She fainted due to shock of what she saw."
"What she saw?"
I had the same question in my mind. What did she see? On top it all off, why risk doing something dangerous, to the point of almost losing your life? I may be over exaggerating this but really, isn't that true? Did this girl see something in me?
Everyone saw her eyes slowly come back to life. She looked dazed and, as she said, shocked.
"She is dangerous and we must all stay away from her, by all means." She claimed as soon as she gained consciousness.
"Dangerous?" The boy asked.
"She...she's a threat!" Her voice didn't break but, she seemed to be terrified with facing me.
"How is she a threat?!"
She closed her eyes, more like squeezed them shut before making another statement, "She... she's a killer."
