The car ride seemed to take long or was it because of the awkwardness in the air? I just looked out of the window, minding my own business when Ms. Michiko started a conversation with me. I guess she was also bored.
"So, you're a senior at Queenswood?"
"Yes, I am."
Awkward.
She gazed at me for a while before shrugging to herself, "You do not look like it."
My eyes widened with surprise, I saw Fran, out of the corner of my eye, put a hand to her mouth. I saw Miles also do the same.
"What? I can assure you, I'm a senior!" I retorted.
"Who said that you weren't a senior? I just said you don't look like it."
I couldn't think of a comeback. My mind was drawing a blank, the person in front of me thought of that remark at the speed of light! She leaned back, crossing her arms and feeling satisfied with what she did. I could only stare at her with bewilderment, whoever she was, she's someone who you don't want to get in an argument with.
"Okay, Michi, that's enough sass."
"Who told you that you can stop my sassiness?" She smirked, closing her eyes.
I sighed, well, I'm in the world of weird people.
"Say, Michi..."
"Hmm? Yes?"
I thought there was going to be another snazzy remark but it was just a simple question.
"Do you think we should stop by and eat something?"
She shrugged. "As long it has matcha, then yes, let's go."
"You do have a knack for green tea, huh?" Fran commented, not even glancing at her.
"What can I say? Tea is better, what's more, I find it healthier."
I coughed, remembering about the 'healthier" remark Fran made earlier during lunch break at the cafeteria. She wanted something better, but ended up with steak. I'm not sure if she intentionally contradicted herself or maybe she was just asking for a steak at a school? Whatever, the thing is, I'm really curious about her "magic" earlier. I still couldn't quite figure out if it was a magician kind of trick or is she special?
"So, what's this about magic earlier?"
I almost bumped my face to the chair in front of me for Miles braked so strong. "Ow!"
"What is this?" I heard Michiko ask, her soft tone nowhere to be heard. "What did this girl say? I demand an answer right now, Franziska!"
"Hey! Calm down!" I said.
"No, she demands an answer, I must say something."
"Well? Did you do a spell?" Michiko sounded even more demanding.
"I...did. It was only a minor kind of spell, nothing too serious!" She defended herself. "Besides, it was for her benefit!"
"Benefit? Explain." Her tone didn't falter, not even for the slightest bit. She was somehow, a stern and firm kind of person with her aura as of the moment.
"She had to see it."
"That's it?!"
I jumped, I should probably butt in or something, I need to say something!
"Erm, Michiko, she actually helped me not to be late for a class. If she didn't I wouldn't be riding here right now. I would still be back in school, serving my detention." I explained, hopefully calming her a bit.
"That's right!" She agreed, "Besides, someone...you could say, you know this person, noticed."
Upon hearing that, she fixated her gaze towards Fran, I couldn't see her expression so I couldn't say much. I saw Michiko relax, leaning back to the backseat. Miles continued driving, as if nothing happened.
I didn't clarify anything anymore, that argument is better off as that. At least, the air has shifted a bit, although there was still an underlying tension.
---
As promised, we ate out. Michiko, due to her liking with matcha, ordered a matcha cheesecake. She didn't let us take a slice, which actually sucked since I wanted to try one.
We all went back to my house, I immediately ran off to my room and did my homework. That strange argument from earlier kept playing in my mind; why would Michiko be mad at Fran? What's even more strange, she was obligated to answer her questions without delay.
Who is she, really? She's giving off a mysterious vibe, what's more, she was sulking about something when I boarded the car from school. She looked really dismal and broken. Yet when she heard about the magic issue, her eyes went up in a blaze, she definitely roared at her!
I tried researching her up on the web but nothing came up. All I could see were a bunch of different search results for different people.
"So, who are you, really?" I whispered to myself.
---
I heard some arguing downstairs about two hours after I finished my tasks. I couldn't hear them well but what I know is Michiko is mad again. I guess she raged at her again. Their voices were completely muffled by my bedroom door, so I opened it a bit.
"You reckless impudent! What did I warn you?!" I heard Michiko shout.
"I only did it because I thought she might have any signs! You know how she's the sole person of interest we have in our hands!" She argued back.
I gasp, putting a hand over my mouth, they were still arguing about it?! I thought it was already settled earlier!
"You were in the school grounds, Franziska, people could've seen you!"
"I made sure we were out of sight, not until he saw."
"Who? Who saw it?!"
"The descendant of the Druid."
The what? I couldn't understand their discussion but still, I was listening intently to it. I got curious quickly, so I continued eavesdropping when suddenly, I heard someone speak behind me. I slammed the door close, due to my surprise.
"You, why are you eavesdropping? Don't you know its bad?"
"But, they were arguing again! Don't you care about it?"
"My sister is just settling the necessary matters."
"Your...sister? Michiko is your sister?!" I exclaimed out of bewilderment. I tried blinking a couple of times to make sure I heard that correctly but, I did hear it correctly.
"It's truly shocking, isn't it?"
"How?! I mean, the resemblance is not there!" I refuted, since it was the truth.
"The resemblance is not that obvious now because," He wagged a finger in his temple, like an action for thinking. "She had to alter her looks, mainly her hair."
"Her hair?"
"As you can see, she has hair styled with front bangs that are swept to the left. That's because others mistook us for twins since she had her bangs like mine before."
"Side bangs?"
He nodded. Now, its my turn to clarify something, "How in the world did you get in here?!"
"That," He stood up and went over to my door. I was far from it now so he can freely go out. "Is a secret."
Once he left my room, I sat on my bed, declaring something, "My mind is full of secrets that you guys won't tell me!"
-------------------------------------------
Not that interesting of an ending but I must say, the argument is something else! Dang Mika, don't you really notice anything? XD
