Rose was very accommodating. Even if she had a number of servants that should've served us, she personally attended to our needs.
When I pointed it out, she dismissed my words, "No, it is fine with me."
She took us to our own rooms for the night. Before I went in to mine, I steal a glance where France stayed. She's obviously still mad at me; she hasn't pretty much talked to me earlier.
I made up my mind and went over to her door. I knocked softly and called her out, "France? You up?"
Not before long, she opened the door. "Do you need anything?"
"Uh...nothing." I mentally facepalmed, I was supposed to say something else!
She raised an eyebrow at me before she proceeded to close the door. I stopped her by moving a foot before it fully closed. It was painful yet worth it.
"You said you didn't need anything, therefore, I'm closing the door and going to go get some sleep."
I inhaled deeply, "Not until you hear me apologizing."
"Come again?"
"I'm here to say sorry for...what happened a few days ago." I scratch my neck and forced a sincere smile. I think it looked more like a grin.
"An...apology?" She averted her gaze to the floor. "You don't need to."
"Aren't you mad?"
"Who said I was mad? If you thought that I was because I wasn't talking to you or anything, then you're wrong." She explained, "Though, I still accept your apology."
"Then...why were you so quiet?" I was curious, if it wasn't about that, then what is bothering her?
"I've come to realise that..." Her voice trailed off, "She knows more than she lets on."
---
The next day, everything was back to normal. At least, that's what I can tell. France and I went to the royal library to look up on some information.
We were told that the path for us wasn't ready yet and so, we had to do something productive.
"Nicholas." I heard her call, "Take a look at this."
In her hands, there was a book. It had no title on its cover but it definitely had something written inside of it. I take hold of the book and flipped every page. I found something that bugged me.
"This is a list..."
"A list of what?" France demanded.
"A list of every Mythical that is still existing in this world."
Her eyes widened and she snatched the book from my hands. She later on dropped it on the floor and her eyes spoke as if she couldn't believe what she was seeing.
"What...what is it?! What did you see?!"
France looked up at me, I couldn't read her expression but I was sure, she read something she can't unsee anymore.
"Their names...they're omitted from this book!"
I didn't want to believe her but I had to. The page she looked on was still open and I pushed myself to read it. Mother and Micha weren't there, not even her mother was there.
"I've been told that a book like this exist but I never thought I'll see it for real."
"Were you told of a reason why some names aren't here?"
She closed her eyes and leaned back on the bookshelf. I could observe that she couldn't bring herself to speak of what she knew yet, I had to know. If Micha wasn't here then...
"Tell me!"
"That only means they're dead!" She spoke too fast, but it was clear as day.
I felt somehow dizzy, I grasped my head and fell to the floor. No, I don't want to believe this, it's impossible. Rose had already said it herself, she can open the path leading to where she really is, that means there is still hope!
"Are you alright?!"
"Y-yes...yes I'm alright."
She sighed in relief. "That thing is not real." The bitterness was clear in her voice, it's obvious that she will not believe such writing.
---
Rose called us in her quarters. It sounded urgent and so, we rushed there. The place may seem awkward to have a discussion yet I can't blame her.
"It is ready." She said as soon as we both entered. "The path has been opened, however..."
"However what?" France sounded impatient. I can't blame her either.
"Are you two ready to take the risk?"
"We wouldn't be rushing to this room if we are not willing." She replied to her, crossing her arms.
"You're going to go far kid."
She led us to her balcony which faced directly toward the sun. The light shone brightly, blinding me for a while.
"I have been granted with a Solar Power that will take you to the place where you'll find your sister." Her arms moved to both of her sides, almost looking like she was praising the sky.
Suddenly, something opened in front of us. It was in a circular shape and the inside of it was swirling with blue.
"This portal will take you to the place. I wish the both of you all the luck you need."
I nodded, "We thank you for your assistance."
"Beware, the set up of the world you're going to is far from being the same with ours. Please be cautious."
She let us off into the portal, I entered first. I felt like my body was being stretched and twisted when I floated inside of the portal.
---
We were dropped off to an asphalt. The impact of hitting it sent a painful feeling on my body. France was already busy in examining the place before our eyes.
There were tall buildings everywhere, the streets were busy with people. They wore clothes that were nothing alike with what we wear.
What we wear?
France wasn't wearing her outdoorsy outfit anymore. It was replaced by a simple peach colored blouse and a denim skirt. She wore white sneakers.
I, on the other hand, wore a black leather jacket. Underneath it was a crisp white shirt and pants. My feet were protected by black sneakers.
"What is this place?" I was already standing up, feeling out of place in this world.
"I don't know..." She fell short behind me, feeling really peculiar about our surroundings.
We were really in a completely different world, one that I didn't know even existed.
