LUKE'S POV

"What the fuck, man?" Ashton yells over the blaring music, grabbing my arm and tearing me from Stephanie.

"What the fuck do you want, Ashton?" I yell back as he drags me by my forearm through the sea of sweaty bodies.

He leads me outside where the breeze is brisk and the air isn't so heavily clouded over in hormones and the strong scent of alcohol. He looks mad, but I can't imagine why he is mad. He lets go of my arm and turns to me, his eyes raging.

"You are such a dick!" He yells and I step back a bit, not prepared for his sudden outburst.

"What?" I say dumbly, confused.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about." His voice lowers a bit, but is still laced with venom. "Why the fuck would you be locking lips with her again when Violet is clearly here just to see you!"

"What are you talking about?" I'm only becoming more and more baffled the longer this pointless conversation goes on.

"You've been a douche all day, then you make out with another girl right In front of Violet." He goes back to yelling and paces over the pavement, obviously upset beyond measure with me and my dick attitude.

"Why would Violet give a shit who I make out with, she's grinding against Drew right now." I play it off as if I don't really care, when in reality my blood was boiling as I spat out that last part.

"Oh come on, Luke. Everyone can tell she's got it bad for you." He glares at me, like I should already know this.

"Oh please, Violet does not have it bad for me." I scoff, crossing my arms over my chest.

"Fine Luke, whatever." He throws his hands in the air, surrendering. "I'll let you figure this out on your own." And with that, he disappeared back into the mess of people.

I sigh and kick the ground with my feet, pondering what Ashton said to me. Yes, I kissed my best friend. I don't know how it happened, all it seemed like was I saw her in my t-shirt, and then the next second her lips were on mine.

But the thing is, is I don't think she felt the electricity I felt. And I'm my midst of uncertainty, I've turned into a major dick. But it'll resolve itself, like it always does. Yeah. . . .maybe I kissed Stephanie in front of her because I needed to know how she would react. I practically melted under the intensity of her glare, but she rebounded and melted into the group of people with Drew. So I figured that this was nothing, and we would move on. Like we always do when something goes wrong.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't have some unexplained feeling for my best friend, and god if it didn't set me off when I saw her with Drew, but it'll pass.

Feelings are only temporary.

VIOLET'S POV

Our dancing wasn't wild, and we weren't grinding on each other. Drew seemed a bit more on the classy side, and despite my wild demeanor for the night, I wasn't looking to grind hips with anyone. Yes, I ventured out of my shell, but not quite that much.

"Having fun?" Drew asks me, shouting over the music.

"Yeah." I smiled, but it didn't quite reach my eyes. Images of Luke and Stephanie were still fresh in my mind, and I couldn't quite shake them, even though I was desperate to rid my mind of Luke's lips messing up her bright red lipstick stain.

"Awesome." He grinned. Tried keeping my eyes focused of him and him only, in hopes that Drew may sweep out the images. I was having a good time with Drew, but I could help but remind myself Drew wasn't Luke. And even though my blood boiled at the thoughts of Luke, I wanted to be with him anyways.

"Violet," I hear another familiar voice call out my name over the music, but still just barely audible. It wasn't Luke's voice, but as I turned to see who yelled for me, I see the familiar ruffled brown hair of Ashton elbowing his way through a group of people.

"Hey, ash?" I say, turning from Drew to face a flustered looking Ashton.

"Come with me, please?" He already has my small hand captured in his, dragging me away from Drew, not allowing me to answer his question.

"Sorry," I mouth back to Drew who only waves his hand, letting me know it was fine. I give him a thankful smile as Ashton drags me up the stairs.

He pulls me into an empty room at the top of the stairs, slamming the door shut once I'm safely inside. The music is merely just a boom now and Ashton and I are allowed to have a proper conversation.

"Ash, what's the matter?" I ask him. "What was that?"

"What is up with you and Luke?" He takes a heaving breath, shaking out his hair; a habit of his.

"What do you mean- me and Luke?" I snort at the thought of him.

"There's something going on between you two, the boys and I can see it." He explains.

"There is nothing going on between me and Luke." I hiss.

"You two are impossible." He pinches the bridge of his nose, shaking his head toward the floor.

"There's nothing going on Ashton," I insist. "Besides, why would you care if anything was going on between us anyway?"

"Because I don't like seeing you upset, Vi!" He shouts, I step back a little. I hadn't been prepared for his sudden outburst. "I mean, uh, I don't like you two being upset." He corrects himself, flushing like he was embarrassed, but I didn't know why.

"Sure, ash, whatever." I sigh. I turn for the door, not wanting to continue this conversation anymore. Ash doesn't stop me, so I exit. But low and behold, there's Luke just casually standing by the door.

I brush past him, the images popping up again at the sight of him. There's just a bit of red at the corner of his mouth; Stephanie's red lipstick. The bile rises in my throat, sick the the thought oh her all over him.

I really need to stop thinking like this.

I reach the staircase but before I can make my way down the steps, I'm stopped by the sound of heavy footsteps and warm fingertips around my cold forearms, the sparks surfacing.

My gaze shoots to him, meeting his soft blue eyes and I feel my own eyes soften as well.

"What, Luke?" I ask, trying to sound annoyed but I just could bring myself too it.

"Can we go home and. . .talk?" His voice is small and soft, delicate. As much as I wanted to be spiteful, I just couldn't.

"Yeah, sure." I say.

His eyes lit up at my words.

But once again, I picture Luke and red head and my blood begins to boil.

I wasn't sure what to do with this chapter.

I'm trying not to rush into the big plot twist to quickly, so therefore this chapter was boring and didn't quite live up to the cliffy of chapter 15

But the next chapter will be good I hope
