Chapter 5: Can Things Change?

(P.B. Pov)

I start walking though the fire forest as I try to get back to the Candy Kingdom. I look around carefully but it's getting dark so it's easy to spot of fire. After a little while I'm about half way out of the forest and I hear growling. I turn my head slightly to see a pack of fire wolfs and my eyes widen. I keep walking and they just follow slowly. One of the pups walk beside me and it rubs up against my leg making it burn. But I know if I freak out the whole pack will be on my butt. I sigh trying not to whimper or make any noise. When I look up I see Lady and Finn flying over head and I just keep walking. When they call my name I just growl and scream "here"!! The pack instantly attacks and I run. I close my eyes and keep running. Did they not hear me?

"Marcy"!! I scream but then once I feel arms around me I open my eyes to see Jake and I sigh... Now I just feel stupid. "Thanks you guys".

"Yah, what the hay were doing in the fire woods"? He says pulling me onto Lady.

"No one was there to take me back so I decided to wing it". I say hoping they didn't hear me scream Marcy's name.

"Oh and we need you back quickly. It's about Marcy". Finn comments as we ride back.

"What!? What happened? Why is she at the castle"? My face goes from sadness to worry and I plead for Lady to go faster.

"She's been in the sun for to long. We wanted to get you back so you can help". Jake says with a little look of confusion.

I calm down a bit and right when we get back I run into my lab seeing Marcy asleep against the wall. Finn picks her up for me and I give her a shot making her skin instantly return back to normal. I feel her forehead and see she's still hot and I grab my rag and put it under some cold water. Then I put it on her forehead. Then I sit down and Finn sits beside me.

"Well that was fast. How did you know how to cure that so quickly". He asks looking at her.

"I've done it before. Not to to long ago.". I lay my head back and after a few minutes peppermint butler comes in asking me about some new arrangements. I follow him out but not before telling Finn to to look after Marcy. I go into his office and he hands me a lot of letters. "Who are all of these from"?

"Well... Suiters princess. The kingdom has wanted you to start looking so I kinda sent some letters to-".

"You did what?! Peppermint"!? I say growling walking closer to him.

"I mean... I knew you weren't going to send them". He says quietly.

I sigh. "That's the point. Look just tell me who's coming first".

"Actually I've arranged a ball".

"So your meaning to tell me that I'm going to be surround by...". I look at the number of letters. "Five princes that I want no association with the whole night"?

He nods proudly.

"Fine... But can I invite my friends"?

"They are a distraction but fine milady. What ever you wish".

I nod and take the letters with me back to my lab and sit in the chair beside Finn... "Want to come to a ball"?

He gives a confused look and I explain the situation then he leaves me alone not giving me an answer. I look to Marcy and tears start coming to my eyes. I pull my knees to my chest and I cry. Why can't I just have Marcy? Why do I have to be the princess... Why can't things be different?!
