Seven

In this life nothing is free and I learned that the hard way. If you want something worthwhile you have to work your ass off to get it, earn it. I thought Lotus was something special and was truly amazed that she chose me out all the guys around. She could've had her pick amongst men but she chose me. Yet I had nothing to offer her.

Often I would catch myself staring at her during our school days, wondering what she was like, admiring her beauty, daydreaming of having her. But I never acted on my feelings. She was a spoiled rich girl and would just look down her nose at me. Then one night I saw her having  car trouble and offered my help, not to score with her but just to help. I knew I had no chance in hell with her.  To my amazement she showed up the next day at my job with the most ridiculous cupcake known to man. It was delicious though. That became our thing, if one of us was upset or down we'd search the town for the most ugliest cupcake to give to the other.

After that day she showed up that was it, our fate sealed, bonded together. Best summer of my life but with a bitter sweet ending. My mom liked Lotus, everyone who met her did due to her fun loving personality. However my mom warned me of her, worried she'd lead me to trouble. My mom was right.

I was released from jail that night without so much as a apology. Just told me they caught the person responsible and that's it, no info on who it was or anything. I'm a slummer, I wasn't  owed a explanation. I haven't seen or heard from Lotus since. After a week I knocked on her front door and her father wasn't thrilled to see me. "Hi Mr. McNally. Could I speak with Lotus?"

He glowered at me then said with satisfaction. "Lotus has left for school already. She wants nothing more to do with you. She came to her senses and realized she made a mistake. She was just sowing some wild oats. There's no need for you to come here again".

With that he shut the door in my face leaving me standing there. Later I drove alway to her college only to find out she wasn't enrolled there. She was gone and I  had no clue to where. No calls are anything and my hurt turned to hate, but it only fueled me more. I worked even harder to get through college, make something of myself and prove all these assholes wrong.

Within two years my life took a drastic change. Due to my good grades I was able to transfer to a big name college in NewYork. Once there I made friends quick and was introduced to Malik Visso. I didn't know it then but he was connected to the mafia and soon I was doing jobs for him. I continued college as well but couldn't pass up the money Malik offered. I did some robberies, passed along threats as well as make good on those threats. I quickly became his right hand man. He was like a father to me and I his son. Among his men I was known as Deadly Seven. I was the best sniper he had, most trusted and loyal. Finally I was able to live the high life and moved my mom from that town putting her up into a fancy townhouse here. No longer was I trash and the high dollar women flocked to me now. Sure I had my fun but I would never get serious with a gold digger or another rich bitch. That road ran it's course.

Occasionally Lotus crossed my mind and I wondered what she would think of me now with my tailored suits, Mercedes, penthouse apartment. May have wished she stuck around but screw her.

Then the day came where Malik was taken out by another Italian mafia king that rules New York as well. Yes it hurt to my soul to loose the only father figure I've ever had and I was astonished when I discovered he left me everything. All his companies, homes across the world, exotic car collections and his bank accounts. I was now richer than I could ever hoped for. Richer than any of those fuckers back home.

One of my many companies had been struggling a bit but it was brought to my attention that a fairly new employee had rearranged some figures and recalculated and within two weeks brought in more revenue then the company had in four months total. They said she was just a lowly front desk operator that greeted clients with only some college, no degree.

Just by chance one of the higher ups had befriended her and discussed the companies issues. This little phone girl took a look and made a few suggestions as well as changes that proved to be a major impact to my company. No college degree didn't bother me , if you had smarts, you had it.  Of course I wanted to meet this person before I offered the position to them. I had to know they would be trustworthy and loyal because there might be times they would see or hear things that related to me and who I now was. Deadly Seven, mafia God.

I was relaxing in my office waiting to meet this potential new important employee that could turn this company around. Hoping they would pass my inspection test and prove themselves as trusty, loyal, and made for my business was the hard part, especially once they discovered that saleing small electronic parts was just a cover up for the big time smuggling of weapons going on here. If they chose to blab it would cause trouble and I'd have to kill them.

I was thinking of what I would eat for lunch when my secretary announced that my appointment had arrived. Taking a second I turned from my office window with a polite smile and froze.

The fuck kinda joke is this I thought. Whoever recommended this bitch would pay. I watched as recognition hit her and she screeched out "Seven?"

Scowling down at my arch enemy I growled. "Your fired. Get your shit and leave my property now".

Lotus gave me a shocking look as I buzzed for security. I had them escort her out. Out of my office. Out of my building. Out of my life.
