Working on my third year at this morbid all girl school a lot has changed. Not just on the outside but inside as well. My smile was gone, in fact I can't recall the last time I smiled. Thankfully the beatings had slowed down, but I also knew what to do to avoid any encounters. Never smile, never be nice to anyone, never speak. Just keep your head bent to the floor.

To say I was overjoyed when the headmistress informed me that my parents had finally sent for me was a understatement. I was to be on the plane by seven and would finally be home on November 7th. To my surprise when I arrived I was in for a magnitude shock. Both parent's picked me up and neither seemed thrilled to see me. My dad's new Cadillac was no more, instead he was driving a older Ford. My mom wasn't drenched in her jewelry and something just didn't feel right.

Breaking the silence I had to ask. "Why am I home? I still have a year of college left".

My dad glanced at me through the rearview mirror. "Your done with college, it's no longer affordable".

"What, but I..."

My mom's sharp tone cut me like a knife as she interrupted me. "This is all you fault. Every bit of it".

"Mom?" I mumbled hurt

My father spoke up. "The Miller's had the their revenge at last. We have always been in the money laundering business together for ages. Once you turned their son Josh over to the authorities instead of letting that slummer take the heat they betrayed me. They cleared all evidence in their dealings with me and turned me in."

I stared wide eyed not believing what I was hearing. I never knew my parent's was cabeable of such accusations. I never seen anything that would raise concern. "So what's all this mean now?"

My dad grinned. "It means you will be our saving grace. We've lost everything. No more huge home, nice cars, luxuries are a thing of the past. I had to sale everything in order to afford a lawyer to keep me from prison. But that's about to change. You, my dear girl are a bride to be".

"What?" I hissed not understanding his words.

There's a older man, Asher Evans, who's interested in you. He's 42 to be exact and needs a wife to supply him with a child. He's a multi millionaire and offering us a great price for you. You are our ticket out of this mess".

My stomach turned with nsuesa as I couldn't believe my parents would actually do something like this. Tears bubbled from my eye's "you can't do this. It's against the law. I want marry anyone". I screeched.

Suddenly my head slammed into the back of the seat as my dad lurched to a stop. Turning to face me he jerked me up by my hair and gritted out. "Yes you will.... or you want live to take your next breath. Remember you are the reason we are in this predicament."

Covering my face with my hands I sobbed. I didn't know what to do. I had no where to go or no one to turn to. Also I can't believe my very own parents threatened my life. They pulled into a ruddy motel and my mom told me to shower and supplied me with a fancy dress. Apparently I would be meeting this Asher tonight.

As I stood in the foyer of this immense home in this slinky dress my mom kindly graced me with I couldn't help but feel this was all wrong. This shouldn't be happening. The hair in my neck stood up as a tall, well built man entered the room. He was easy on the eye's but I didn't want this. I stood frozen in fear as he circled me checking out my assets. I felt like a piece of meat on a chopping block, degraded, cheap, scarred. So many emotions were running through my mind when he spoke to another man he called Adams.

"Adams give them their first payment. I will take her".

Watching in complete and utter disdain as my parent's smiled while accepting the check then turning to leave I finally moved. Running to them I grasped on to my mom. "No, please don't do this. Don't leave me, please". I begged even dropping to my knees.

"Adams" Asher's voice rang out. "Remove the girl so they can be on their way".

This Adams man gripped me by my waist tearing my grip from my mom. "No" I screamed as he toted me up the marble staircase while I pummeled his back with all I had. I was tossed onto a bed in a spacious room and heard the lock set in place as he left. Two days I spent in this room supplied with meals three times daily. Right about now I was wishing  I was still at that awful school in France. Late that evening Adams came to fetch me. "Mr. Evans is requesting your presence".

Really not having no other choice I followed Adams down the hall, back over the staircase and into another hall. Stopping, he opened a set of French doors. "Await Mr. Evans here. Stepping in I realized I was in a massive dinning room richly decorated. Deciding to take a seat I nervously fiddled with the lien napkin in front of me. Hearing the doors open I continued to look down to afraid to see who may have entered. I felt the heat of someone's glare on my back then heard that icy voice say my name.

"Lotus McNally".

I remained still and mute. Suddenly his hand clasped around the back of my neck Appling just enough pressure to make me wince. "Answer me when I address you and I expect your eye's to be on me when I'm in your presence. Do I make my self clear?"

To afraid to speak I nodded my head which caused him to grip my neck harder. "I didn't hear you. Say yes Mr. Evans".

"Yes Mr. Evans" I croaked out between dry lips.

"Good. Now that that is cleared up let me inform you of my intentions. We will marry a year from now and immediately start working on my heir. You are safe from my needs for now, I've whores aplenty that beg me to share their bed, so my hunger is met. You will obey my every wish and I shall provide for you. I mostly live in NewYork due to my companies so I will give you the option to choose if you'd rather stay here or New York?"

I quickly mulled it over. I'd have better chance of escape in the city. "New York, please Mr. Evans".

Looking irritated he replied "I was afraid you'd say that. I can't have you underfoot at my home there so I will put you in your own apartment. I have to many women to entertain to have you around. However, you are responsible for your rent and other bills. I will furnish the apartment along with your clothes and accessories. Your first months rent will be paid. I will personally find a job for you" Asher stopped long enough to place his deadly stare on me.

"If you have any notions of running away I would diminish them now. I will always have eye's on you and trust me dear, I can be very brutal".

"Yes Mr. Evans" I stammered.

"Another thing, never speak to me to anyone. As far as your concerned you don't know me".

"Yes Mr. Evans".

"Good". He rose to leave but I just had to know so I blurted out. "May I ask how much my parent's sold me for?"

He grinned his slimy grin. "Five million sweetheart. Trust and believe I will earn it all back once we are wed".

Asher left me then to my own thoughts. Breaking down I laid my head on the table.
