After about two hours, which was lunchtime, he called me back in. I was sitting at the desk next to Lucas' desk but we were working at all. We were playing paper football. He held up two 'L' shapes with his hands, his thumbs together, and I'd flick a little paper football between his hands.

"You know, you suck at this." He commented, after my tenth miss.

I laughed, making him smile. "Well it's been a while since I've worked on my flick aim."

He rolled his eyes playfully but sat back in his chair as if nothing happened when we heard Lucian's door open. I looked up at the door and fought the urge to think about how good he looked in that suit. I didn't want to see the reality that I was the same as any other woman when it came to Lucian Montenegro. I wanted to be the one who resisted his good looks and literally everything perfect about him. Which was everything. Except for his personality.

He was standing in the doorway, his 'ass full of pole' seriousness still going. "You can come back in now, Ms. James." His voice was brooding and devilish as usual, but something about it was off. Abnormal. His voice sounded lighter and smug, if you will. Like he was planning something.

"Okay?" I stood up with my bag and walked slowly past him like a five year old who'd just gotten in trouble. I got into his office and the sound of his heavy office door closing still made me jump.

He walked past me and to his desk without a glance. He sat down and leaned back in his chair, crossing his right ankle onto his left knee. His beautiful hazel grey eyes flickered up to me, and I already knew the routine for when I got kicked out.

"I am not getting any younger, Ms. James." He mumbled.

I sighed. "I don't understand as to why you kick me out over tiny little things. Last time you kicked me out was just because you were being a--" I cut myself off when he raised his eyebrows at the noun I was about to call him. "--person in a bad mood." I said in place of the noun.

"Well it really isn't your place to agitate my 'bad mood', is it Ms. James?"

"It's all in the name, personal assistant, for me to be personal with my boss, whom I personally work for, personally. I wasn't trying to agitate you, I was trying to work my happy charms on you.  You're just a very hard man to please." Brain, do not make that last sentence into a dirty joke.

"I do not need your strange 'happy charms', whatever they are." He made a weirded face.

"Well anyways, I was just messing with you earlier. I wasn't serious. But sure, no more jokes if that's what you want, Bossman." I shrugged. "Lunch?"

He glanced at his silver diamond Rolex watch. "Yes. Einstein?"

"Uh, could I not?" As much as I loved Einstein Bros., I couldn't go there as much anymore. He could be lurking there again, now that he knows that's my everyday hangout. My FBI agent bodyguards did follow me to Lucian's house, they just stayed in a van parked on a curb nearby. They did the same at Monte L. "Maybe I could go to Annabella's Brunch Bunch. It's a new place not too far from here."

He analyzed me for a few seconds. "Okay." He said slowly, as if he were suspicious of something. "Sure. I'll go with you."

He's actually volunteering to go get lunch with me?

"Oh. Okay." I grabbed my pink trench coat, that matched my outfit, and put it on. He put on his big black trench coat and we left the building. It may have been almost May, but it still felt like March sometimes. I had bought a blueberry muffin for Lucas everyday since my first day here, so I wasn't gonna stop now.
