There was a knock on my door, and I growled in my sleepy state. "What?!" It had been an official twelve hours since my lovely beauty of a girlfriend left me to temporarily work for another company and she hasn't called me yet. I couldn't sleep, I was thinking nonstop about everything that could go wrong during or after her flight. She could get mugged, attacked, her hotel room could get robbed. And I was in an entirely different continent unable to protect her.Amos said quietly, "Sir, your mother is here."
I shot up with wide eyes. "Did Peyton call her?"
"That information is unknown to me, sir." He said. "Would you like me to tell her that you're busy—"
"No, just–just let her in." I sighed, plopping back down onto my back. I wiped the tiredness off my face as the door opened and she walked in. "Did Peyton call you?"
"Wow, I visit my son for the first time in months and the first thing he says to me is about his precious little girlfriend?" She smacked my shoulder with fake offense, and I smiled at how her face clearly expressed that she was happy that I was so hung over Peyton.
"I'm sorry. Hello, mamá. What's with your visit, how have you been since I saw you last night?" I asked.
"Why are you in bed?" She asked but it sounded like a scold.
"Because there's nothing else to do—" my phone started to ring and I scrambled to answer it. "Hello?"
I heard her soft yawn and a smile made its way upon my lips. "Hey. I'm sorry I didn't call earlier, I had to get some things straightened out and I got tired and fell asleep. It's a little over midnight over here."
"You can call me later in the morning, you should get some sleep." I frowned.
"No, I'm good. I slept a little on the plane. Are you surviving, Lucian?"
I chuckled. "Barely. It's incredibly boring without you here."
"Aw. Well just in case you're on the brink of insanity, I called your mom so she could make sure you don't lose your mind without me." I knew it!
I put her on speaker. "Mhm, she's here now."
"Oh hey, Mariana! Is he doing okay?"
"I'll get back to you on that." My mother said.
"I am nowhere near okay." I sighed.
"Try to hang in there for me. We've got 92 days left. I haven't heard from Lucas, you must've been a good boy today." She teased, making me roll my eyes.
"I wouldn't put it that way, but yes, I have. No need to punish me." I grinned. "What did you do today besides leave me?"
"Is that the most positive way you can put it? Um, let's see. I landed and went straight to my hotel. Then I found out that a certain man has my room already paid for."
"Did you really think that I'd let you pay for that expensive room yourself?" I smiled.
"Actually, not really. You love to spoil me and I don't like it."
"You do like it, you just don't like the idea of it."
"It's mooching! But anyways, I met with my childhood best friend Damien and he took me to Empire de la Mode where we met Jon and my other old best friend Amelie. They both have internships there. I'm supposed to present my designs tomorrow in a conference and then we get straight to work on the clothes and models. Then after that we get over 20,000 of my outfits prepared for sale and distribution all over France and then Europe, and eventually America. Then at the near end of the third month, we present a fashion show which you are welcome to attend if you can."
