After work, Lucian and I decided to walk to my apartment. Which was fine, because it was only a few blocks away. When we went inside, George smiled at us before shaking Lucian's hand. I forgot they met when he gave Lucian partial ownership of New City Apartments. "Mr. Montenegro, what a nice surprise.""Good evening, Mr. Webber."
"Hey George!" I chirped, hugging him tight. "We're just hangin' out if you need me. Is Josh here, or is he out again?"
"Josh is here. He's been waiting for you." It's been a while since I've seen Josh for a good minute.
"Thanks, love ya." I led Lucian to the elevator and once inside, Lucian asked me a question. "Are you friends with Mr. Webber?"
"Yeah. He's more like my big brother, even though I already have three. Josh is probably in my apartment if he's waiting for me. We share rent, he has a key to my apartment."
When we reached my floor, the doors opened and Josh was standing there. "About damn time you got here. You know how long I was waiting?"
"You technically didn't wait long. You just got here from working a shift like an hour ago." I chuckled at him. His eyes went from me to Lucian, then he nodded.
"Hey, Lucian."
"Wait, what? How--"
"I ran into him on my way to the store the other day when he was here to apologize. That's why I was out longer than I intended. Now get your ass out of the elevator before it closes." He said, pulling me out and we walked to my door. I opened it and let Lucian go in first, but before I could go in, Josh grabbed my arm.
"I can come back later, if you want."
"What? Why?"
"You texted me about your game, and I wanna help you win." He smirked, talking in a whisper. "Plus I was planning on getting wasted later anyways."
I laughed. "Okay, come back later. Love you."
He smiled. "Love you too." He said, before walking off. I smiled and closed the door. But when I turned around, Lucian was gone.
"Lucian?" I called, and he walked out of my bedroom. "What were you in my bedroom?"
"I was just looking around the apartment while you were talking to Josh about him helping you beat me. You won't."
"How did you hear that?" I scoffed in disbelief. "I swear you're half bat or something. You can take your jacket off. Do you want something to drink? I have milk, water, juice, soda, wine, champagne, beer, vodka, and tequila. And I make a good-ass margarita."
"That list went from nonalcoholic to alcoholic real fast. What's the point of going to Bottles Up when you have an entire bar in your kitchen?" He said, taking off his suit jacket and hanging it on the coat rack.
I laughed. "Because I like going to bars when I want to drink with people. I drink my own alcohol when I'm alone. I only buy the expensive stuff?"
"That's what your spending my money on?" He asked as a joke. Jokes were something he was starting to do. But yet, no smiling.
"No. I use my paychecks for my family and rent too, FYI." I took my hair out of the sloppy bun I put it in earlier. "I'll be right back." I said, going into my bedroom and closing the door.
