"Peyton, I said 'spree'. You literally got three outfits and that's it.""No, I got a few dresses, shirts, skirts, jeans, and a scarf. That's enough for me." I simply said.
He put my shopping bags on the coffee table. "It came to a total of 90 dollars."
"That's a lot of money, actually. Plus, I'm not an expensive person and I'm used to buying things only on sale." He followed me up the stairs and into his room.
I plopped onto his bed, laying on my stomach. He laid directly on his stomach on top of me and I wheezed. "Why are you on top of me?"
"Because you're normally on the bottom." He said.
"You're so dirty minded."
"No, I'm just mature in thinking."
"By the way, the preference doesn't apply when we cuddle, so get off of me." He chuckled and rolled off of me and laid on his side beside me.
*******
It had been a month now, and Lucian and I had been officially dating for exactly two months. Which meant that it was technically our two month anniversary. The gala was Sunday and I leave for Paris on Monday, since the renovation was done and all they had to do was paint and decorate. By the time they're done, it'll be Monday. It was Friday today.
I was heading downstairs and he was about to eat breakfast. I walked into the kitchen and he looked up to smile at me. "So. Are we going to treat this like a normal day, or do you want to have a super two month anniversary day?"
"I'm glad you acknowledged it." I pecked his lips and went around the counter to sit across from him. "I'm not a 'let's celebrate and dress up and drink champagne' person, it's only two months. If it were a year, then maybe."
"Okay." He nodded, taking a sip of coffee.
"But that doesn't mean that the fact that we've been together for two months should be ignored. Are you sad that I leave in three days to another country?" I smiled.
"Very."
"You don't look like it. If that's your sad face I'd hate to see you depressed."
"I'm sad on the inside." He chuckled.
"'Cause that physically counts for something."
"I'm kidding, you know I'll miss you." He said as his ears turned red. "That's three whole months without waking up to you in the morning. Do you want me to drop you off at the airport, or do you want to take my private plane?"
"I'm fine with the airport. Why do you get uncomfortable when someone mentions the gala?" I meant ask about that. His jaw clenched, and I frowned. "Is it someone you don't like? Who is it--" I cut myself with a sudden flashback popping into my brain.
I remembered months ago when Johannes talked about a woman named Nina Garcia visiting Lucian. He had that same dreadful look. "What is it?" He asked.
"Who's Nina Garcia, who is she to you, and why does she bother you? And I'll be pissed if you say she's a friend." I looked him in the eyes and he instantly broke the eye contact. Uh oh.
"I guess I might as well tell you. Nina Garcia is a woman I met when I was 18 years old. We were together for a year but it was nothing serious, I didn't want a girlfriend at the time. Until my father wanted us to marry." He rolled his eyes. "She was thrilled with the idea of marrying me but I was almost disgusted with the thought. My father only wanted us to marry so that way a man with a family could run Monte L. It was tradition, you could say."
