Lucian had claimed me. Well not officially, obviously, but he basically just said that I cannot even look at another man. And it went without saying that he cannot look at another woman. But with his complaints about the women who come his way, I doubted I'd have to worry about anything.N/A- Now here's where things get weird.
Lucian and I still fought like we used to, but they were more like stupid arguments than angry outbursts. For example, one time we got into a fight about whose bed was bouncier (I don't even know why).
He kicked me out of his office because he still had bad moods at least once every two weeks. He came to my house all the time with his key and it had gotten to the point that we didn't even call before showing up at each other's houses. We brought extra clothes to work so we could go over each other's house. He even gave me a key to his place.
Lucian and I kind of became best friends. With a lot of benefits. We hung out all the time. I talked to his family all the time. He hung out with Josh and I, and he became best friends with Josh too. And George a little. We did best-friendly things and messed with each other.
It had been about a month, and it was nearly time for the roads near my apartment to close so we could start reconstruction and renovation. Just a few more days. It was a Saturday, and I hadn't seen him since yesterday when he couldn't come over. He had a sibling emergency up in Long Island.
I was sitting on the couch with my feet on the coffee table, wrapped up in a fuzzy soft blanket and watching CSI: Miami. It was the episode when Horatio has to find and re-arrest an escaped convict named Memmo who was part of a gang called the Mala Noches, all while finding Memmo's daughter.
I heard the lock click and the door opened, him walking in and slamming the door a little. He put his keys on the hook next to mine and walked over to sit beside me. "Well, jeez. Hello to you too, Lucian."
His jaw was clenched and he was breathing hard. I paused the show. "What's wrong?"
"My mother just called me. Sebastian got hurt in a fight with a black eye, and she says I'm not allowed to go up there because I'll 'be too rough about it'. That's just bullshit. He's my little brother, and my only brother."
I sighed. "I know you're pissed but that's the reason why she said it in the first. She just wants you to calm down first before you talk to Sebastian. You can be scary when you're angry." I didn't mean to say the last sentence aloud.
He looked at me. "Do I scare you?"
"No." I shook my head. "Not really. Only when you're extremely more pissed than you've ever been. And that's rare."
"When's the last time I got like that?"
"When you first saw me without my disguise." I said, making him frown.
"You know I don't mean to be like that." It sounded as if he were about to apologize.
"I know. It's just how you are, you can't help it. And I'm fine with that. Don't apologize for something you can't control, Lucian." I rested my head on his shoulder. He put his now shoeless but sock-wearing feet on the coffee table next to mine and I put half of the blanket over his legs.
"I just wish bad things didn't happen when I'm away from my family." He breathed.
I hugged his waist. "I know." He put an arm around me and kissed my head. "But at least I'm here to help you cope with the bad things." I smiled, looking up at him.
