Marie looked around. She and Scotty were in one of the cargo bays of the menacing ship. It was huge! Then the transmission unit crackled again.

"Marie, Scotty, we are coming over there. There's a small exhaust port in the same cargo bay that you guys are located in. We are going to need you to open it the second we say so, got it?"

"Yes captain"

"Good, we'll see you soon"

"Captain, who's we? Who is coming with you"

"Khan. He knows this ship, evidently"

The transmission stopped. Marie raced to the window of the cargo bay that was facing the Enterprise, right next to the exhaust port.

"Scotty, it's a huge debris field between us and them. How are they going to make it through?"

"They'll manage, leave it to Kirk. Now come help me figure out this manual control panel"

Marie laughed.

"I can try, Scotty, but I'm a medical officer, I'm no good with machines. I work on people and with science equipment"

"Well as far as I've worked out, we just pull this lever"

"Well then why do you need me?"

"I wanted a second opinion! I'm certainly not-"

"Ahh!"

Marie was grabbed from behind by a big security guard.

"What are you two doing in here?"

"Are you Starfleet or private security? 'Cause you look like private-"

"I said, what are you two doing in here?"

The man tightened his arm around Marie, making it hard for her to breathe.

"Your little friend here is suffering, sir, I suggest you answer"

Just then the comms crackled to life.

"Scotty, open it now"

The guard looked to the device in Scotty's hand.

"What's that? Who are you talking to?"

"Do you think you could set that girl down? She's having trouble breathing"

Marie passed out.

"Oh well there's that"

"Scotty, I said now!"

"Answer me! Who are you talking to?"

"I'm really sorry about this sir, but really it had to happen"

Scotty pulled the lever and grabbed Marie's unconscious body, as the port opened and everything loose near it was sucked into space, including the guard. Two objects shot into the cargo bay and rolled to a stop next to Scotty and Marie. One of them sat up, Khan. He removed his helmet and removed the captain's helmet.

"Captain, you'll need some time to recover. Let's take a few minutes"

The captain nodded slowly and Khan looked to Scotty.

"What happened to her?"

"Big security guard choked her"

"She's alive?"

"Yes, she just needs a few minutes"

Khan took Marie in his arms and gently held her, stroking her face softly, murmuring to her.

"My sweet Marie, open your eyes, take a deep breath. You can do it, come on"

Marie's eyelids fluttered and she moaned. Khan kisses her forehead and she opened her eyes, breathing slowly.

"Khan, you're here

She wrapped her arms around his neck and he put his hands gently on her back, holding her close. Then the captain sat up.

"We need to get to the bridge"

Everyone stood up and Kirk handed out guns.

"Khan, yours is locked on stun"

"Theirs won't be"

"Don't get hit"

Marie took Khan's hand and stood at his side.

"He's not a traitor captain"

"We have to be careful, Ensign, what if he's not helping us and we are helping him?"

Together the group set off on their way to the bridge. They raced through tight spaces and encountered some officers. There was a fight, and when it was finished, Khan was gone. Marie looked around.

"Khan, where did you go?"

Kirk rolled his eyes and pulled Marie closer to him and Scotty.

"Stay close, he's probably gone off to settle some personal issue with the Admiral. I knew he'd be a traitor"

"He wouldn't leave me here, he wouldn't go without me"

"She's right, I wouldn't"

The group turned and Khan was standing behind them, his hand outstretched. Marie went to him and he smiled at her, then beckoned to the others.

"This way, I know the fastest way to the bridge"

Khan and Marie took off, and Scotty and Kirk were close behind them. Kirk leaned over to Scotty.

"When we get to the bridge, keep your eyes on me. If I signal you, drop him. Got it?"

"Yes sir"
