The windows exploded as Harrison shot through them, aiming to kill everyone in the room. Kirk was thrown over the table by the explosion and Marie was instantly hit by a shard of broken glass. She cried out in pain and dove for cover behind a pillar. Admiral Marcus was nowhere to be seen, he must have made it out. Admiral Pike called for backup, so that someone on the outside could stop Harrison. Kirk scurried over to where Marie was hunched, clutching her damaged arm tightly to her side.
"Are you alright? Let me see it"
"James now is not the-"
Another volley of blasts shot through the room, and the pillar started to crumble. Kirk grabbed Marie and dragged her from behind it, making a run for the door to the room. John Harrison caught a glimpse of Marie, in her Starfleet uniform. He hadn't known she was an officer, he hadn't known she was highly ranked enough to be at the meeting. He knew he couldn't stop shooting, he would just try to avoid her. Out of the corner of his eye, Kirk noticed Spock dragging someone from behind the wreckage of the table and moving them to a cushion in the corner. Kirk propped Marie, who was loosing a lot of blood, against a wall and threw open a wall panel containing first aid material, but more importantly, a hose. He had noticed that the vents on Harrison's ship were sucking in lots of air, and Kirk thought that if he clogged it...well, he didn't know what it would do, but he knew it wouldn't be good. He snatched a gun from a fallen security guard and wound the end of the hose around it before throwing it out the shattered window and towards the vent of the ship. It made it inside, and the ship started to break down. Harrison was surrounded by golden lights and suddenly he disappeared. Kirk quickly bandaged the now unconscious Marie's arm and picked her up. He carried her over to where Spock was kneeling in the corner beside the cushion. Admiral Pike was laying there, dead. Kirk started to drop Marie and Spock quickly grabbed her before she hit the ground. Kirk flung himself over Pike's body and cried. Soon, emergency help came to the building and started to clean the mess and take away the bodies.

Marie opened her eyes to Kirk's apartment walls. She was lying in his bed, only wearing a tight black t-shirt and shorts. She sat up and looked around. She couldn't see James, but she noticed a thick white bandage on her arm. Marie flexed her muscles and was met with a searing pain in her right bicep. She remembered the firefight at headquarters, but she didn't remember how she got hurt. Marie quickly walked to the living room of the apartment and found Kirk on the couch. She sat next to him.
"What happened to me?"
"Flying piece of glass cut you, and you passed out after a while"
"Thanks for getting me fixed up. Seems you're doing that a lot now"
Marie smiled and nudged Kirk with her good arm.
"Yeah"
Kirk's expression stayed the same, and Marie's smile fell.
"What's wrong?"
"Admiral Pike was killed...he's the closest thing to a father I had"
Marie hugged James as tight as she could.
"I'm so sorry"
"I'm going to avenge his death, Marie. Somehow, someday. He gave me the Enterprise back. I'm a captain again"
Just then, Kirk's communicator went off. It was the engineer of the Enterprise, Scotty.
"Captain, I found something in the wreckage of Harrison's ship that you need to see, come quick!"
"I'll be right there"
Kirk stood up and grabbed Marie's hand.
"Let's go"

The two of them didn't even take the time to change into dress uniform, Marie only put on black pants instead of shorts. They raced to headquarters and found Scotty at the site of the fight. He was holding a strange box like machine in his hands.
"Captain! It's a transporter. Look where he went"
"He went to the place we just can't go"
Marie gasped.
"Kronos. The Klingon home world"
Again, Kirk grabbed Marie's hand and raced off in a different direction.

The two of them ran right into the building and straight to the conference center, where Admiral Marcus was discussing what to do about the traitor.
"Admiral sir, permission to take the Enterprise and follow Harrison. He went to Kronos. Scotty found a transporter"
"Kirk, all out war with the Klingons is not a good thing, but it's inevitable"
The admiral walked over to a display and pulled up a readout of a torpedo.
"This is an example of what we were developing under the archives. Take these torpedoes to the very edge of the neutral zone and blast Harrison to pieces, then get the hell out of there. Understand?"
"Permission to reinstate Commander Spock as my first officer, sir, and Ensign Stanton as ship's nurse"
"Permission granted"
Kirk took Marie's hand and dashed off towards his ship. When they got to the station, Kirk grabbed Marie by the waist, picked her up and spun her around before setting her down and kissing her, full on the mouth.
"Revenge Marie, I'm getting revenge"
