The Day Is Saved..?

Marie tapped her comm badge.

"James, what is going on?"

"The Admiral is scanning the cells and trying to find Khan"

The ship went back into read alert and Khan stepped closer to Marie.

"James?!"

"He powered up weapons, hang on, I need to talk to everyone"

A ship wide channel opened.

"This is your captain speaking. You have all been a fantastic crew, and I couldn't be more proud of you. I'm also sorry. Something went wrong, and the Admiral is planning to destroy the Enterprise. I led you all into danger and I hate myself for it. You've been the greatest crew I could ask for. Kirk out"

Marie's link to Kirk reopened.

"Marie, I want you to know I love you, and I wish I could save you from this"

Khan leaned closer to Marie's ear.

"I wish I could save you too. My superhuman strength is no match for weapons"

Khan squeezed her a little tighter.

"James, it's ok. I'd rather die with my captain, on his ship, than anywhere else in the universe. You're my best friend, James, and I love you too"

Suddenly, Khan shouted.

"Captain! We can save her! My site to site transport technology! We can send her to the Admiral's ship, and at least she has a fighting chance then!"

"Both of you, to the bridge, now"

Khan scooped Marie into his strong arms and ran, Marie's face pressed into his chest. They arrived on the bridge in seconds it seemed. Khan set Marie down and raced to a station on the bridge. Kirk stood by his side, watching his actions with intensity.

"All I have to do is input the equation and this station becomes a transporter"

Khan pressed a big button and the machine beeped three times and the screen turned blue.

"Marie, stand next to it"

"I don't want to leave you guys, I can't go on if you're dead! And this isn't fair to the rest of the crew if I get to live and they don't. How to explain to Starfleet? How do I even make it home?"

James pulled Marie into a tight hug as she started to cry.

"Marie, don't, please. You're the smartest and strongest girl I know. We just want you to have a chance to survive! This is all we can do for you"

James handed Marie to Khan and he kissed her long and hard.

"I'm glad I got the chance to know you, my love. Who would have thought after I knocked you to the ground back on Earth or blew up the room you were in, you'd still love me this much"

Marie laughed and gave her two favorite men a wet smile.

"I'm going to miss you so much"

"We'll miss you too"

Marie stepped back to be next to the transporter. Khan pressed a few more buttons and suddenly Marie began to glow. The yellow lights surrounded her like they had to Khan in his ship while he was shooting at Starfleet. Marie blew a kiss to both men and she disappeared. Khan and Kirk shook hands, and suddenly Sulu shouted.

"They've powered down weapons! No, wait, they lost power! Weapons were cut!"

The Enterprise went to yellow alert, and suddenly a fuzzy transmission came through the speakers.

"Captain? I snuck aboard the Admiral's ship, and you'll never guess who I found!"

"Scotty? Is that you?"

"Yes Captain, and I found your nurse! Ensign Stanton!"

Khan breathed a sigh of relief.

"She's safe, for now"
