Chapter 16 - Teacher Days

Taz blinked quickly confused why she had to go. Parker seemed to do the same. Why did they have to go?

Taz and Parker walked with Ms. Norris. "His last name is Carney? What the hell kind of last name is that?" She thought.

"Lopez? Her last name is Lopez? That's so cool." Parker thought, "Common Mexican last name though..."

They both didn't know why they actually followed, but they ended up in her room. Taz wished she would've walked away to get away from this classroom.

"Sit." Ms. Norris smiled.

Taz looked at her with glowing but "seriously?" eyes.

"Here?" She heard Parker ask, thanking dead god she didn't have to say anything.

"Yes. Sit." She said strictly now.

They both sat quickly, "¿Qué deseas?" Taz asked in her native language not realizing it.

"Taz, por favor, habla en inglés." Mrs. Norris spoke back quickly with sass. Taz was surprised.

"Oh- Sì.... Lo siento."

Parker gave a look of confusion between the conversation, "I'm sorry, I didn't understand any of that."

"Jou don't need to." Taz said quietly to him.

"Taz, you missed calculus today-" she started as she sat down as well at her desk, got out a paper and started writing.

"I know, lo siento-" Ms. Norris gave her a look to stop speaking her language, "but I had to substitute-"

"Substitute? A first year?" Ms. Norris was shocked but didn't say this rudely, but rather calmly.

"Sì. I'm substituting for Combat, Up's class."

Norris looked up from writing and gave a look, "Supposed so. Why didn't the commander alert me then?"

"I don't know-"

"It sounded like you were skipping class before I knew this.... or- where you?" She gave Taz an evil eye also giving a bit to Parker.

"I'm speaking de truth."

"Should I call him up?"

"If jou really want to. He knows. He let me."

"So, I can call him right now and he'll say that you are?"

"Sì. I don't lie."

"Okay." Norris rolled her eyes, opened her cabinet and grabbed her watch. The same one that Taz had. That gave Taz an idea...

"Ms.-" Taz started but was interrupted.

"She's not lying! Cut your shit!" Parker stood up, yelling annoyed.

"Mr. Carney-" she stood up but was interrupted by him.

"-Just stop Ms. Norris! Taz has the same watch on her wrist right now and you can't even believe that she's telling the truth!" Norris gave a look to Taz's wrist, "Now, just because you don't like Taz or you have some grudge against her doesn't mean you need to report her to the commander.-" he took a breath to say more but was interrupted now.

"Well, Mr. Carney," she started walking towards him and he stepped out of his chair and started to walk backward, "if you're so bold, I might as well still call the commander and have you suspended for the rest of this week and next week. It seems like your plan to help your-" she looked at Taz with discussed eyes, "Friend... has failed."
