Auston's POV- December 2016

"Both my parents are doctors, so it was no surprise to anyone when I decided I wanted a career in the medical field"

Maddy and I had gone to Costco for 'necessities' after practice. My fridge was now stocked with food that she was planning on cooking throughout the week and food that I could snack on. During one of our many trips to unload the car, we bumped into Mo. He helped us, and Maddy convinced me to invite him over for dinner. Currently, the three of us were eating together.

"What do your parents specialize in?"

I reached for more sautéed green beans as she reached for her napkin to cover her mouth.

"My dad is the head physician for the Arizona Diamondbacks, and my mom is the Orthopedic surgeon"

Her moms was a top surgeon in the state of California. She was close friends with the head physician of the LA Dodgers and was the 'unofficial' team surgeon of the team.

"When are you planning on checking out the campus?"

She moved the napkin away from her mouth and reached for the wine glass across from her.

"You can borrow my car" I offered.

She smiled.

"I'll take you up on that offer"

"You do have your international license, right?" I asked.

She nodded.

"I'm actually going tomorrow, the advisor of the program agreed to give me a tour of the place"

"That's nice of her" I noted.

"But that means I have to wake up early"

I chuckled because if it was one thing she hated was waking up early. 

"What time are you guys out of practice?" 

I looked at Mo.

"It's usually about 2 hours"

"We should be out by noon" I told her.

She set her wine glass down and nodded.

"I should be back by then. I have to be there before 8:30"

"When will you know if you got in?" I asked.

"Until February"

I nodded.

"I'm sure you'll get in, they would be stupid not to accept you" I stated.

She offered me a smile before looking down at her food.

"When was the last time you saw the campus?"

She picked up two green beans with her fork.

"I was real young, we're talking like at least ten years ago"

He hummed.

"Makes sense, you have to make sure you still like it"

"Exactly!"

I reached for the wine bottle and filled my glass.

"Want more?" I asked Mo.

He looked away from Maddy and nodded.

"Yeah, thanks"

I nodded and filled his glass up.

"Anything I should know about Auston?"

She took a sip of her wine and smiled.

"What do you want to know?"

He grinned when I frowned at both of them.
